Had a moment of doubt

KingArthur2014

Hello All!

Please bare with me on this post. And feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be helpful with this area of doubt. I have been to numerous Tarot Card Readers and Psychics, s well as healers over the years. At times I have "felt" that my indulgences were "dangerous spiritually" and then have retreated away, even swore off my indulgences. Recently I was going to read at a buddhist shop in a cool downtown area and I cancelled because I got spooked as if I was delving into activity in which the communication or spirits I was appealing to were (or could be) demonic or malcontent spirits. So I canceled the event and decided I would do extensive research on Tarot Cards where I found conflicting information. One very experienced woman reader (quite well known) said she has contracted with the divine and that she's not even sure she believes in demonic spirits and then she added that it would take a lot more to bring that kind of influence upon one's life. So SEQUE I am now reading for friends and family and I feel good but not as "free" as I used to but better because instead of seeking assistance from my spirit guides or those of the person I am reading for I simply go based on my gift of intuition for the greater good of the person I am reading for. I don't claim to be a fortune teller but rather tap into the energy of the person I am reading for (or feel the cards reflect what is going on in them) for the greater good and NO EGO is what I think. It's not about me. I believe that we all have a higher consciousness and that as Tarot Card readers we are using whatever positive guidance is coming from the spirit world to help the person we are reading for. If I was using this to "trick" or "manipulate" then I would be more concerned. Any words from anyone would be helpful. Thank You!!!

So, I'm no expert. I haven't read mountains of books on the subject and I'm no shaman/healer/priestess but I don't believe that consulting these things brings "demonic forces". I know many people that believe watching the wrong movie, listening to the wrong music, or letting their kids have Pokémon cards will bring demons into their home. I have never seen any indication that these types of things can call malevolent beings.
Is your intention good? Do you actively try to put aside negativity when reading for others? Do you consult spiritual mediums to hurt others? If not... Don't worry about it. Honestly. Intention is everything. Only you know what is in your heart but if your heart is in the right place that is the most important thing. My 2 cents.

Thanks so much

Yes, I feel the same way. Have you read long? I feel very god, and have been very pure and this whole indulgence has made me so different so I cannot see ANY harm but I think I revert to my earlier church teachings which I read the early church banned Tarot (Catholic) because they didn't want believers to pursue esoteric means, but rather stay within the church.

I agree about the church fearing loss of control in banning the Tarot. Just as it tried to stamp out the gnostics. The problem with demonic forces is that they are there, like it or not. It doesn't necessarily make them evil but they need to be grappled with if they manifest in any way.

The God I know is so much more powerful than any demonic forces that I never give any thought to it. He/She is on my side and if I ever have an issue, He/She will take care of it. People who believe there' a demon around every corner are giving power to those negative powers that they really don't have. I prefer to trust that I'm protected (because I know I am) and not waste my time tilting at windmills and living in fear. Those are my sincere beliefs. Evil does exist, of course, but I won't give it power over me more than it deserves.

Thank you for bringing this subject up. If you allow me, I would like to bring in a different view on the "evil"of reading cards or oracles, for that matter. I am not a professional nor intend to be. But I've been reading for more than 20 years and what I feel happens when I read is that I may "absorb"(for lack of a better word) the energies of the sitter. IF the person is not well protected spiritually or is going through a very rough patch in life, I end up the reading feeling sick. I've thrown up more than once after some… Now, it has been suggested that I ground myself first and create a "protective shield". It didn't work. If I am not completely open to the sitter, the reading is hazy, blocked, empty. It's like a dead telephone line. So, back to your question, I do not believe Tarot invites demonic entities but it can make you feel strange depending on who you are and how your reading operates. NOW, Ouija boards are a different story. But let's not get started on that one!!! :)

There are so many threads here on Christianity and Tarot that it would be difficult to count.

I can only speak for myself in that I don't believe in spirits, goblins, demons, fairies or even pixies. I don't commune with the dead when I read Tarot. I read a set of cards in front of me that have no supernatural forces within them. I don't believe in Angels, guardian angels or even any kind of supernatural being. I believe we are born, we live, we die. End of.

There are lots of Tarot readers who do manipulate and trick and use Tarot to leach money from the gullible but then so did the church in my humble opinion:D

So thankful

I really hope this thread continues. I am fascinated and encouraged by the loving intention of your responses. I know how happy I feel when someone is being blessed by my readings. It really does bring out a very loving side of me which is why I do it. I do agree that Ouija boards are a much different story hee her and I think of all the other acceptable forms of stimulations (pornography, drugs, alcohol, etc.) I don't judge anyone but I can say quite frankly since I began getting serious about Tarot and the metaphysical that strong compulsions I used to have in these areas over the years dissipated completely. I don't know if any of this made sense. But THANK YOU ALL!!!! Keep them coming!

Hello. I would say that, in excess, the 3 addictions / 'stimulations' / 'compulsions' you mention above are frowned on in many cultures & are not universally seen as 'acceptable' at all. I'm not judging either - just noticing a huge variety of attitudes in different countries and among different groups of people. They all have their reasons - not all 'religious' or moralistic.

The main difference between these and Tarot, in my opinion, is that the former overcome, muffle, blunt, befuddle, confuse, hinder and diminish our ability to empathise with and relate deeply to all the subtleties in the minds, hearts (& souls, if one believes in souls) of others ... whereas Tarot helps develop and increase our intuitive, empathetic, emotionally-aware and relational abilities and helps us understand others and communicate better and more deeply and fulfillingly. Indulging in personal & sensational compulsions is a very lonely, isolating business, imo. Whereas Tarot seems to help bond people.
This is only my own view, and could, of course, be mistaken.

Looking forward to reading what others think.

Must clarify "acceptable"

Hi. For the record my comment about porn, alcohol, and drugs as being acceptable means that in comparison to Tarot cards which as I have mentioned receives serious criticism from such religious groups as The Catholic church, Evangelical Christians as "condemned by God", etc., but one can indulge in porn freely, purchase DVDs, get drunk, legally smoke marijuana, etc. (again no judging) but I was explaining how Tarot has helped me to be more attuned to "opening myself up" and I just have refrained from certain behaviors and become more moderate in my indulgences.

Thanks
