Richard the Lionheart?

Macavity

Browsing though historical section in a local bookstore, I came across a striking image of Richard the Lionheart illustrating the legend:

"When the lion burst into his cell and leapt hungrily upon him Richard simply thrust his hand down the lion's throat and tore his heart out."

What a dysfunctional lot those Angevins were! })

But, aside from the obvious yuck value, I noticed a striking similarity to the traditional image of "Strength". Hmmm... Shame I can't find this image online.

And you mean to say you didn't buy the image to scan for us?

and does that mean that is where the name "Richard coeur de lion" came from?

No, at this time of the calendar month, I always suffer from something a Inland Revenue (think IRS) form, sent many years ago to my mother, once described as "pecuniary embarrassment". No, I don't know if that was the origin of Coeur de Lion. It's odd that it would be such a (from me anyway!) closely guarded secret. ;)
