I just finished reading a huge stack of books on Tarot.
They are listed in the Bibliography at the link below.
I rated them A, B or C for quality, but I had my own,
specific and fairly rigorous standards. Some annotations.
I regarded B list books to be worth reading and A as most important.
The Tarot section starts just over halfway down the page.

Wow! Thanks for posting that huge list. This helps me with my "what should I read next" and "should I really bother paying what they are asking on eBay" lists.

I just bought that too this past weekend.

Fascinating thread.

I am in the middle of Kate Ross's The Open Minded Tarot, and its accompanying workbook. I'm finding them challenging, but in the best sense of that word.

Up next is Anthony Louis' Tarot Beyond the Basics, because I loved his first book so much.

I'm reading an amazing book by Christine Jette called 'Tarot Shadow Work: Using the Dark Symbols to Heal'. It starts off a bit slow, with many warnings about how if you're in need of help it's better to reach out to others first rather than play with tarot cards... but it picks up quickly, and she has a lot of spreads that I've found very illuminating!

And I've just started Julie Gillentine's Tarot and Dream Interpretation.
