Do you know of any Tarot decks with odd suits?

Sablespace

Hello! I am new to Aeclectic Tarot, and pretty new to Tarot as well! I was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me:)

I am fond of Tarot cards that have coins instead of pentacles, and staffs instead of wands (they offend the public a bit less). Does anyone know of a deck that uses such things? Especially the coins as pentacles, wands are usually pretty safe.

Thanks!

If you want to go way out there, the Mystical Cats Tarot uses elements instead, so 9 of Sea, 4 of Fire...

Quite a bit more tame, if you like cats that is!

The Pentacles in the Black Cats Tarot look more like coins, and they don't write out the name on the card so you can call it coins all you want!

I feel there was another one I owned like that but I forgot...

Thank you! Kitties AND elements? Everyone will love it:)

The Tarot De Paris by John Philip Thomas had elements for suits and very memorable, dramatic imagery. I think it is still available from the artist.

Mystical Cats would be a fabulous deck for public readings. It does show magic and ritual on some of the cards though. Four of Fire and Nine of Fire both depict cats performing magical rituals.

The older decks like Tarot De Marseilles and Visconti of course have Coins rather than Pentacles.

If I remember right the Elemental tarot by Caroline Alsop has elements for suits. Victorian Fairy Tarot has the four seasons and people have said in their comments that it is a very good reading deck. It is by the same creator as the Mystical Cats.

Hey Sable, any Marseille style tarot should do! The Italian soprafino style should too. There are dozens to choose from!

The Radiant Wisdom Tarot has a whole extra suit, called the Suit of Bridges. That's really odd. ;) The rest of the suits are named for the elements, if I remember correctly.

It looks very interesting, extra suit or not, so I have been on the fence about buying it for a while.

This is by far the friendliest group of people ever:) Thank you so much for all the advice! I've never heard of a fifth suit (bridges seems like a FASCINATING idea), and I'm so glad coins still exists! Thank you all!!!

Welcome!

I am fond of Tarot cards that have coins instead of pentacles,
Any of the Marseille decks, any of the Ancient Italian decks, any of the Visconti decks. The beauty of these decks, too, is that they have centuries and centuries of credibility, too. :)

and staffs instead of wands (they offend the public a bit less).
There are decks with Arrows, Weapons, Bows, Clubs and Branches.

Does anyone know of a deck that uses such things?
There are decks with Loaves, Stones, Reels and even Buttons instead of Pentacles.

Especially the coins as pentacles, wands are usually pretty safe.
I've been reading for the public for quite a while now, and I've never found anybody offended by Pentacles. What community do you live in? I live in Australia.
