Cards you bought the deck for

Myrrha

Cyborg (Devil) - Steampunk Tarot: Wisdom from the Gods of the Machine. I don't actually own this deck, but as soon as I have some disposable income I intend to. This card totally wows me. It reminds me of Blade Runner. The cyborg pulling off his mask to reveal another false face...the single tear...to me it's leaps and bounds more evocative than the traditional depiction of the Devil. Every time I consider another deck, I remember this card and my determination to have this deck returns

What do you think, has this ever happened to you? Of course I'm not saying that the rest of the deck doesn't have to appeal to you, but have you ever seen that *one* card that you knew you had to have? Or are you not as easily swayed into getting a deck?

I am easily swayed but is usually more the tone of the deck as a whole and how it might work in readings than individual cards. I have been considering the Matthews Steampunk Tarot because it looks like a deck where there is quite a bit to go on in the images. The images would add up to something beyond standardized meanings. I hadn't seen that Cyborg you posted and it really says a lot, great card!

The LS Ghost Tarot had a couple of images I really loved and made me want the deck but overall it seems more ordinary so I will probably pass on it in spite of those few cards.

Dark Victory '39

hows this for uncanny yet typical tarot behavior

The Elora! Bought it for the death and chariot cards. SAW all the cards on the website, did not really care for most of them. Lo and behold, it's one of my favorite decks; i use it routinely and find it a good reading deck for being so coffee-table-bookesque arty. I don't know how to explain myself. There is no rationale. Except, possibly that the website showed strange dimensional changes: i.e. doing close-ups and zooms on cards so that in actuality was surprised that the cards were less-close in person? Doesn't really explain though why i didn't really give a toss about the fool online, and in-hand find it fascinating.

I came close. I love the 6 of Swords from the Fountain Tarot -- the way the swords themselves form the slipway. I also like the contrast in the two people on the boat and the distant bit of land on the horizon. Pretty much everything about it.

But I'm not as keen on most cards, and I'm single minded about the TdM at the moment (and probably for some time to come), so I didn't go for it. I wouldn't mind having a print though.

I ordered this deck because of that card too. And, the Spring Heeled Jack. In the deck he is the Devil. Reading a bit about Spring Heeled Jack, I can understand. Although the image in this deck is so reminiscent of the Fool! Now that would make for some interesting contemplation!

Interesting related articles about Spring Heeled Jack. He reminds of Batman!
