Duck Soup Decks

Card explanations, elaborations and suchlike are coming in future issues of THE SANCTUM. First issue is in final stages of production and should be ready, conservatively, by mid-June.

HOWEVER -- I can tell you that most of the people pictured in the deck, maybe 97 perfect of them, are nameless, ordinary Edwardian-era people who have been forgotten or swallowed up by time. There are really very few exceptions. But among the exceptions are:

Emmaline Pankurst as the Heirophant, Marie Curie as the Queen of Cups, Billie Burke as the Queen of Swords and Clara Bow featuring on the seven of cups.

There are a couple of stage actresses on the cards, one of whom appears more than once. I don't have their names right in front of me, so that will have to wait for a future issue of the bookazine.

More to come....

Thanks for letting us know, Doug. :)

The First issue of THE SANCTUM, a projected bi-annual journal on Tarot (specifically featuring texts to supplement and illuminate the various Duck Soup Decks) and Popular Culture, is out now.

The first issue is pretty short -- 30 fully-packed 8.5 x 11" pages -- because I had to write the whole damned thing myself. There is a "call for submissions" on the contents page, and it's my hope this will generate articles from other contributors that will help flesh future issues out.

Print copies are pricey at $13.99, but the downloadable PDF is a steal at $1.99.

Thank you!!

The Midway Arcana is here.

What started as a simple expansion pack for the Zirkus Magi -- including significators, alternates, same-sex lovers cards and the like, grew into a massive 78-card expansion that changes the whole tarot experience in unique and interesting ways. Zodiac Cards, Totem Animals, a Working Wheel of Fortune and really very much more -- use just a few to enhance a reading, or use them all in combination with the Roadshow or Distressed editions to create a massive 156-card tarot UBER-DECK. It's like nothing you've ever seen before. In the immodest way of the Circus, we hereby proclaim it "The Most Spectacular Tarot On Earth!"

We call it The Midway Arcana. And it's here now.
