The official crystal identification thread

cardlady22

It's difficult to make out the colors in the lower left two. Is there any metallic bits/effect going on there?

now heading clockwise,
The blue is probably quartz.

?? lighter green - chrysoprase?

red might be a carnelian/agate

?? mottled, is it green & white or black & white

probably serpentine; it is a tad greasy-feeling?

?? darker green - quartz or aventurine?

weird I wasn't supposed to have a crysoprase here but looking at some pictures, it does look like one

the one that looks red is actually clear on one side and has an orange to brown tone on the other side

the darker green is also transparent so i have no clue what it is
and the other one is black and white

and oh yeah those smaller two do have metalic bits on it

thank you so very much for helping me :)

Hmm, maybe bronzite or enstatite? Otherwise, they are just inclusions.

doesn't look like any of those :(

canid

Can someone help identify these? I have a feeling the 2 darker ones (middle left) are hematite, the rounder one has sparkles in it so it COULD be specular hematite, but it's rough so it's hard for me to be certain. I'm pretty sure one's copper (top left), the crystals are cubes, but I've been trying to polish them up, get the oxidation off, & it's not doing much. And I suspect the 2 on the right are copralite. Anybody?

Ethereal_Phoenix

My Mother found this stone on an old Necklace of hers. She and I were wondering if this is a real stone or if it was dyed and made like this. I hope I can find the name to it. :)

Thank you to anyone in advance who might be able to help! :D

many stones are dyed to enchant the colors, so.. it may be dyed but have a similar natural color underneath.

looks like an agate (agate can have the most amazing colors)

my list doesn't mention any garnets
i still haven't figured out what are those but here i am again with another pic
i'm thinking the green one may be aventurine
(the one in the right is dark orange)

the dark red (right corner) seems to be an carnelian, same the little orange at the bottom (carnelian can have all range of red, orange colors)

the green looks like aventurine, yes

the red in the middle, the opac red, is an red jasper

the big one Im not sure, do you have any more pictures of it?

the 2 in the left corner are the same, but i don't know what they are :|

nice collection :)

red at the top: carnelian
light blue at the left: sodalite
green at the bottom (middle): agate (very nice I must say)

the one under the red one, looks like an amethyst (its purple)

the one in the middle of the red an the blue one can be crysopras, the colors is a bit hard to see..

the right corner, the spotted one: seems to be a jasper

the two in the left corner are they the same color? at my computer one seems to be purple and one more blue ?

A mystery quartz

Can someone please help me with the identification of this quartz? I am certain that it is not a: Rutilated, Dendritic or Phantom Quartz. The mystery mineral in the middle is smokey and silver like...
