The Dice Spread (2d6)

xaeroknight

an interesting section i found in a Occult/Magick Book called "Goth Magick" By Brenda Knight. It uses 2d6 (2, 6-sided dice for all your non-D&D players :p ) and using only the Major Arcana aka Trumps i haven't used it yet but this is how it works

1. Use 2, 6-sided Dice
2. Roll the 2d6 as many times as a Spread would like you to, Record them on a piece of paper. (I think the Past, Present, And Future Spread would work the easiest since your rolling dice, She even recommends just using this spread).
3. See each of the Dice in a Roll corresponds with the cart below.. Example if your first roll was a 2 and a 6, You would find the 2-6 in the column which equals XI. Justice.. Also if your dices "escape" or rolls of the surface your rolling on thats 0. The Fool :-D

0: 0. Fool
1-1: I. Magician
1-2: II. High Priestess
1-3: III. Empress
1-4: IV. Emperor
1-5: V. Hierophant
1-6: VI. Lovers
2-2: VII. Chariot
2-3: VIII. Strength
2-4: IX. Hermit
2-5: X. Fortune
2-6: XI. Justice
3-3: XII. Hanged Man
3-4: XIII. Death
3-5: XIV. Temprance
3-6: XV. Devil
4-4: XVI. Tower
4-5: XVII. Star
4-6: XVIII. Moon
5-5: XIX. Sun
5-6: XX. Judgment
6-6. XXI. World

Tell me what you think of this.. may even take away completely from the connection you have with the deck. But she said you can sort threw the cards (sort 0-XXI) and then roll the dice and pick up the card that you rolled for. I don't know. but this maybe good for quick readings if you have a Tarot Book but not the cards (sounds quick and dirty)

Interesting, I'll have to give it a throw! :D

I agree, though, I love the images on my cards (I'm a newly avid collector, and have about 20 decks I believe).

I also bought a little dice set on clearance at Barnes & Noble for $2.00 that came in a bright red 4" cube-shaped box. It's called "Decision Dice" and has THREE six-sided dice in three different colors. You throw them on a 12-segmented wheel mat that is provided, and the interpretations are given to you in a nifty little book.

Anyhow, thanks for a fun idea!

whoa.. a Dice throwing Fortune Telling set :D I'll have to look for that as well. I would this that Dice wouldn't be as good as predicting as Tarot, a Pendulum, or Runes.. But at the same time they are all Random in what you get. All about your own perception or coincidence theory LOL

Thanks for sharing this xaeroknight! I've seen dice used before with tarot cards, but two six-sided dice would be much easier to find than the other sets (and less expensive too!)

Bodhran

P.S. Perhaps the Fool could be used as a significator since there is no zero on the dice.

The 0. Fool is only used if your dice roll of a surface your rolling on or the escape you :p.. don't we all wish sometimes that our Significator was The Fool :D

3d6 for the full 78 card pack!

This would give you the Minor Arcana or suit cards:

Wands: Ace~King
1,1,1; 1,1,2; 1,1,3; 1,1,4; 1,1,5; 1,1,6; 1,2,2; 1,2,3; 1,2,4; 1,2,5; 1,2,6; 1,3,3; 1,3,4; 1,3,5;

Cups:Ace~King
1,3,6; 1,4,4; 1,4,5; 1,4,6; 1,5,5; 1,5,6; 1,6,6; 2,2,2; 2,2,3; 2,2,4; 2,2,5; 2,2,6; 2,3,3; 2,3,4;

Swords: Ace~King
2,3,5; 2,3,6; 2,4,4; 2,4,5; 2,4,6; 2,5,5; 2,5,6; 2,6,6; 3,3,3; 3,3,4; 3,3,5; 3,3,6; 3,4,4; 3,4,5;

Pentacles:Ace~King
3,4,6; 3,5,5; 3,5,6; 3,6,6; 4,4,4; 4,4,5; 4,4,6; 4,5,5; 4,5,6; 4,6,6; 5,5,5; 5,5,6; 5,6,6; 6,6,6;

If one of the 3 dice rolls out of bounds or "escapes", then the remaining 2 dice are interpreted as one of the 21 Trump cards according to OP xaeroknight. If more than 2 dice escapes then it becomes the Fool (0)

Wow, that looks laborious but brilliant. I sometimes use 'a random number generator' on my phone.
