RIP Michael Hurst

ET IN ARCADIA EGO

Michael
- from Hebrew (מִיכָאֵל) Who is like “God”?

Hurst
- from Middle English (Hirst) wood, grove; hillock; sandbank, sandbar
- from Old English (Hyrst) eminence, height, wood, wooded eminence

Every name traces a silhouette upon its inevitable tombstone - an ephemeral signature to all deeds, material or imagined, which compose the book of any one being’s life. Call it the spell of your story, the title of its Tale, or merely a distinct point-of view. Insofar as we may take Descartes at his word, I think therefore I am, thus we all are in some sense, as was Michael Hurst – a man whose name may also paint a picture apropos to his Tale. Naturally, there are more than a few ways of looking at “It”, so take your pick.

In any case, with respect to our mutual adversity on many things Tarot, I will miss his merciless wit and scholarship, and wish him the best on his journeys ahead.

Nemo me impune lacessit

I tip my glass to you, sir!
