Start/Stop/Continue

Embla

I just thought of a very simple spread that is based on a popular exercise that is widely used for personal development and self-growth.

The famous method is called Start/Stop/Continue.

In short, it asks three relevant questions that are central to your personal situation right now, either you want a general take on what is going on in your life, or you need more specific guidance as towards how to reach a specific, personal goal.

The three questions are:

1. What do I need to start doing?
2. What do I need to stop doing?
3. What do I need to continue doing?

My idea for the spread is that you simply pull one card for each question:

* 1 - 2 - 3 *

Any suggestions on improvements on this spread greatly welcomed!

I saw this self-growth method on the Dr. Phil show used between couples. Applying this method to a tarot spread is genius! Thanks for sharing this!

very cool spread!
going to write it down and try it a.s.a.p.

LOL, makes one wonder what Dr. Phil would think?

Thank you guys, yes that´s where I saw it too, on Dr Phil!

I thought a tarot reading could provide further insight to these very relevant questions.

I am thinking it could be used alone or with a partner too, if you are stuck in a situation, need new problem-solving strategies or want to improve the relationship through mutual feedback.

Both partners could draw three cards each and discuss them with one another.

Let me know how it works for you!

Who or what is Dr. Phil? A Tarot expert on tv somewhere in America?

This spread looks really good - simple & useful, stimulating positive ways forward. I'll try it as soon as I get some quality time. Thanks! :)

Thanks, amethyst57. There's nothing under that link, but I followed up several others & could find only a brief mention of his tv programme. (But I do have censorship blocks against unpleasant material on my pc, for family reasons.)
On one site, he is presented as a very unsavoury character: betraying some celebrity's trust to gain personal fame; controlling his first wife to make her do what he wanted and not letting her participate in his business; and then being best man at his son's wedding to some porn 'star' after sounding off against porn for years! Eugh! :/ This might be someone's prejudice though. I have never heard of him, so have no opinion.

Anyway, I really like this spread, and find its simplicity and directness very useful. So, to this 'Dr.Phil' or whoever invented it - thanks! :)

Really Liked This!

I prefer this over a "Past, Present, Future" Draw. It really gets to the heart of why many of us come to our tarot cards, to recognize what ACTION needs to be taken in order to get where we desire to be.

Thank you for sharing this! I will be using this for myself and others.
