Best Decks For Erotic Readings

Hands down the Garden of Priapus/Priapo - www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/giardini-di-priapo/

It makes me laugh and in every reading gives me at least one WTF card that I have to make sense of, forcing me to stretch my tarot muscles in new and different ways. It's my go-to deck for the Reading with Erotic Decks (RED) Exchange. Unfortunately it's long OOP. I paid $250 for mine 5 years ago (or so). It was sealed and I didn't even give it a second thought.

I have that one too. No one's ever requested it so it remains unused ( by me anyway ). I got mine gently used last year for $275. It was a great deal!

This is the card I Magician that I was referring to. I'm sure Google images has more examples from Manara.

This is not indicative of the deck as a whole. As I said a Google search should give you a better feel for the deck.

I'd be laughing too hard to interpret that card. šŸ˜‚

Out of curiousity, and pardon my frankness, in a lot of these erotic decks how do you give a reading for someone else without getting aroused by some of the images? ...hahaha I don't own any but I have some on my wishlist.

Being generally not attracted to men helps a good bit with most of them, and of course one learns to look at things rather like a doctor... from a sort of academic distance

It is true, the majority of these decks are heteronormative in their depictions but still the ladies are very sexy. I occasionally debate getting an erotic deck but have yet to make the leap. If I ever do get one I imagine it would be a deck for very specific questions.

Well, I have gotten a bit off topic, meanwhile I will enjoy following this thread.

I've seen the Tarot of Sexual Magic in use once. It is visually very beautiful but a bit too straight and visually "contriving" in my opinion. I get many clients who are in gay relationships and this deck does not give way to a lot of variety. But worth watching at least. A bit off the track, I use Lenormand for erotic readings because it's more on symbols than finished images.

Tarot Erotica by Lori Walls looks interesting.

Anyone who has 25 or more posts can do a search for RED in the Reading Circles forum and find lots of exchanges using erotic decks. Many threads have attachments that show the cards.

I now have Casanova. I like the Venetian thing going on, but the deck is also a bit samey-samey in its depictions.

as usual, boobs galore and the men are all covered. It'd be nice for the male-attracted gaze to be acknowledged a little more.

The Priapus freaks me out. I know a lot of Greek and Roman art depicts these themes in jest (in the case of animals) and in seriousness (in the case of youths) but in a contemporary setting I find those depictions pretty distasteful and in some cases downright disturbing.

It's a general problem I find with a lot of this type of content, in any medium, is that in order to elicit a visceral, emotional response, there's often a lot of 'weird' or transgressional stuff going on. Not even just kink, but ugliness and violence. I suspect it's maybe trying to break out of that 80's blue-light-and-saxophone saccharine thing; maybe the violence and ugliness is a ways of making erotica be acceptable - not fluffy or porn - because it's 'art' if its edgy. But I think more often it's just a way to ramp up the heartrate.

Looks like the Rohrig is as steamy as it gets in my collection!
