Need help creating..

Im new to tarot reading. I've tried using the Celtic Cross spread, but find it to be confusing and difficult to make clear at times.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a simple 5 - 7 card spread that could be used in general readings and/or a reading inquiring about something.

Something simple, focusing mainly on future aspects for the person..

The Cross Spread

As a newbie myself I found it really hard to understand what the cards were saying in the CC spread - I think the positional meanings are a bit too complicated for a beginner. So I started by using a very simple cross spread:

card 1 - the past and the influence the past still has on your question
card 2 - obstacels in your path
card 3 - influences working in your favour
card 4 - the near future
card 5 the long term future
card 6 - the eventual outcome in your life

I stuck with simple three card spreads, sometimes interpreting them together, or sometimes I would asign questions to each card before I pulled them. I also just pulled one card sometimes and tried to see what that one card was trying to tell me.
I guess it just takes a while to build up the knowledge to do a CC spread - and it is better to start slowly at the beginning!!
