Debra, good question. Are we talking about the Noblet in particular?

Regarding the Noblet, Flornoy says in his lwb:

"White is the colour of emotional saturation, of catharsis, of the "thank you, I have learned" that one says to life. It is the consciousness of being connected with the surrounding world; it is access to the heightened perception, the rediscovery of our original consciousness. In printing, white is the colour of the paper, and the paper if 1650, which was originally ecru, has by now turned white. We can observe very little white in tarot images, apart from the faces and hands, which are always white. The three exceptions are Death, Devel, and Fool."

I find some of this language conflicting.
