Thanks for the invite and welcome to this sub forum

I moved here just two months ago and live in Christchurch - am I the only South Island member so far? If so what a shame - it is a lovely island with breathtaking scenery. (I do love the north island too though and have had two trips there where it was toured.)

My interests are on my profile page but I have one aim now I have settled - to get my tarot reading and crystal healing business off the ground. I don't want tomake it a huge business if that makes sense, but run it from home as a part time role. If anyone has any suggestions to help me on the way they would be truly appreciated. Having had a look round the only two tarot readers I have seen in Christchurch have been on stalls at the local weekend markets. With regards to the crystal healing, I have not seen or heard of anyone who offers that so it could work either way for me. I could be the ground breaker and find it is popular, or it could be a case of nobody wants to try it. Wish me luck though. Look forward to having many chats here with my new friends and neighbours.

Hi Davina

Thanks for stopping by, its lovely to hear what everyone is up to.

Yes I think you are our only South Island member at this stage, hopefully this will change as time goes on.
Most of us seem to be up north at this stage, but our kiwi members seem to be growing so thats awesome.

I wish you all the best for your Tarot reading, and crystal healing business, you sound as though you will pull it off quite nicely.

Where have you moved to NZ from?

Michelle

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS!!!!

Just wanted to wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season.

Hope you all enjoy some fun in the sun, good food, family and friends.

Have a drink for me lol!

And I also hope everyone is able to take a little time out for themselves over Christmas/New year, a little holiday or something would be wonderful.

And I hope all your wishes come true

I will be spending Christmas day and Boxing day in the beautiful Wairarapa this year, I grew up there so its nice to go "home" for a visit.

Love and light to you all,

Michelle

Kia Ora everyone!

Not a native of New Zealand, but my Grandfather was from Wellington. I hope to be over there in 2009. As for now Im in Oz

Im gate-crashing here a bit - sorry,
but I have a question ...
What are some of the things to see in Wellington? Which are the best resteraunts and night spots - what is there to do that the tourists don't know about (yet) ..

A friend asked me this question a few weeks ago, and I have been madly searching for information, but it's not the same as getting the news from someone who lives there, especially seeing that I haven't visited NZ yet myself.

If you feel inclined guys, I'd love a few hints - even if you can point me to a good website. It doesn't have to be just Wellington, but anywhere in NZ you've really enjoyed, nor does it have to be just Tarot based. I'd love to hear about anything of interest happening over there.

Great thread btw
Cheers
Elven x

Hi Elven
I don't know Wellington very well, though always enjoy it when I visit. Te Papa Museum of New Zealand is worth a visit. And a good website which should give you ideas of where to go and what to do is www.wellington.govt.nz.

I see you're from the Blue Mountains - a very lovely place.

Oh, and btw Elven, Queen Elizabeth Park in the greater Wellington region sounds fantastic with loads of things to do if you're into the outdoors. I haven't been there, but I'd love to go. Here's a link to the park www.gw.govt.nz/section404/cfm.

Maybe:

Te Papa, Staglands (animal park this is great), Nga Manu Nature Reserve, Lindale (Ice Creams, farm tours, touristy stuff). Take the ferry across the harbour and have a look at sommes island. Karori wildlife sanctuary (this is very good)
There's a lot of bush, moutain biking and hiking opportunities. Kayaking etc as well. Depending on how active.

Take the cable car up to the look out at the top, walk down through the botanical gardens.

Bar wise I like a huge beer and a plate of Mussels at Luven (sp?).
There's heaps of nice places to eat and drink.

Wow, it sounds as though the others have mentioned a lot of great activities to do in Wellington already. I find this city is just fantastic to wander around and see what you find. There is a lot of live entertainment aswell. Bands playing somewhere every night, there are theatre companies such as Bats theatre and Downstage theatre (they are small), The botanical gardens have live entertainment every night over summer aswell, and there is the Cuba street carnival coming up very soon too with stalls, bands, entertainment, food etc. Gee its hard to think specifics. Lots of great people and bars, restaurants and shopping etc. There is something for everyone. Really.
