I was wondering if anyone else is waiting for The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Cards: A 52-Card Deck and Guidebook by Colette Baron-Reid. It's not do out until Sept. '07. They look interesting but I can't find any info other than what's on Amazon about it http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=1401910424/ref=nosim/aeclectic/

Which is, as you can see, not much!

I just love anything to do with Avalon and their mysteries, so I am keeping my eye on this one. I would love to see scans of some cards.

I can't find any further information on them either... although Amazon UK is listing them for £7.51! If they are as good as I hope, I will pick them up as soon as I can... I love the Avalon archetypes

Hi 6 Haunted Days,

I don't know if it helps, but Hay House are the publishers of this deck and they have some information about it -- including sample images -- over here.

Then there is the author's Web site as well -- http://www.colettebaronreid.com/.

I'm intrigued by this deck too, but I'm wary of folks jumping on the "Avalon" bandwagon... I'd have to see more reviews first.

I bought this deck today - absolutey marvelous !

The artwork and gilt edges are really something. The only thing I didn't like too much was that 21 of the 52 cards are the same forest path image with a different word on each one , but the other cards more than make up for it .And I must add, one of the most purplicious boxes ever !

Oh these look just sumptious! Shooot I wish I had gotten them before, ah well I will get them at some point.....I adore anything with gilt edging.

Dark Inquisitor,
Now that you've had them for a few days how do you like them? I'm sort of interested in getting them, but am hesitant because of the 21 same cards. So what do you think now?

Yes, me too. Those different cards were gorgeous, but 21 of the same scene? Not so sure about that. Decks that do that are kinda copping out and being lazy in my opinion. Hidden Path is a good example. All the seasons and sabbats look exactly the same except for the decorations on the statues, and those "book" cards. Boring! Loved the art in the other cards though.

I'm liking these cards a lot ! So far , they've been dead on and the ones with the the same scene on them are just sort of like pip cards in a way . I am using reversals though , so I don't know if someone else's results will be different .

Hey DI,
Thanks for sharing all the scans. I've been eyeing this deck for awhile but couldn't get off the fence about it until now. I kind of like the idea of "pip cards" in an oracle deck!

Obviously this doesn't change the actual deck in any way, but I'm with you bodhran, thinking about the "same" cards as being pips does change it for me. hmmmm.... I think I may be able to deal with them better now. Because I do really like the other cards. I'm going to have to seriously think about getting this deck.
