Cross card - interpretation

I am using Titanias fortune cards to do a reading, & am interested to learn others interpretation of the Cross Card. Titanias booklet describes it positively as "you are being watched over & protected" & is a card of destiny. Whereby in Lenormand interpretation it is deemed quite negative - trauma, depression & overcoming obstacles.
I understand surrounding cards have an influence on the cross & its meanings, but the interpretations are so different!
Any views...?

I tend to read the Cross as pain and anguish but also something that's fated, for better or worse. I don't know the Titania cards but perhaps there is a tendency to sugarcoat the 'negative' cards in this deck?
