I'm looking for something specific... I want to use playing cards as my tarot deck.
In my family there's a strong tradition of playing tarock (austrian) whenever the right number of people meet. I have this memory of my grandfather's cards. They were slightly yellowed, but in excellent condition, made of thick cardboard with no modern surface treatment, very unlike the slipery, shiny and thin cards you get today. They felt wonderful in the hand and I loved them as a child, especially the queens (incidentally, are there many tarot decks out there in the same cardstock style? I can't tell online without feeling the cards. I'd love to have a thoth deck in this style). It comes in a kit together with standard playing cards and canasta cards and some funny mini-cards.
The problem is, even if I got my hands on some cards like this, there's half of the minors missing, so I'd have to search for a kit similar to my grandfather's, except with same backs (there are 3 colors for the different types of cards) and mix it up. I don't even know where to start.
