Alchemy Red Dragon?

Chronata

I know very little about the subject of Alchemy, though I had started to get interested in it about 8 months ago.

Anyway...I just had a really intense fever, and while nodding off, I dreamed that my whole body had burned up, and Hermes stood over me with his caduceus.

Upon awakening, I found the fever was gone, but suddenly I had this vision of a Red Dragon.
(He looked Chinese, and maybe carved from some dark red stone)

This whole thing smells like alchemy to me but as I only know the barest basics of the subject, I don't know how to interpret this, or what it might mean.

Any ideas?

Hi Chronata,
In alchemy, red is masculine and white is feminine. My first thought was the Devil card from Robert Place's Alchemical Tarot. The dragon is an ancient symbol for the forces of darkness.

This is an excerpt from his symbolism course on alchemy:

States The Bestiary from the 12th century, “The Devil who is the most enormous of all reptiles is like this dragon. He is often borne into the air from his den, and the air around him blazes.”

This sounds like a masculine and feminine imbalance.

I hope this helps

That's interesting.
Thanks 1eleven...that gives me some things to think about.

I definitely feel that there may be an imbalance, and I will meditate on that as well.

Someone just told me that red dragon refers to the beginnings of projects, and relates to Mercury. And well...both of those are extremely relevant for me at the moment.

Do you have the Druid Animal Oracle?
There is a Red Dragon, fire Dragon.
The Celts have a legend of a Red and a White Dragon fighting.
In Korean the Fever is called sweat of the Red Dragon The Korean Mundang (shamans) have songs to shoe it away.....
So have many other peoples.....

Ok this is even weirder.........

This afternoon I was in and out of these forums and completely missed this thread. So I'm just now seeing this.

I was responding to the reading Chronata gave me in Divination when I heard my son getting up so I hurried up and got offline (as my son will otherwise wait impatiently for me so he can take over the PC or get on his Xbox)

So this is where it gets weird......

My son starts asking me if I can get him a new game.....Dragon Age. Actually he wanted 2 games...... Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2. This is the first I have ever heard of this game so I told him to search online and would you believe....this dragon is RED.
