anyone ever astral travel in their sleep?

amethyst57

not sure i am, but, have weirder dreams than normal, more like film noirs...
i wake with a jolt,my pulses is pounding, and about half the times i am on the opposite side i fell asleep on...
my latest one was a few nites ago....looked like a old ganster/pulp fiction/noir movie....wasn't sure which side i was on, wasn't really scary either...

is there any way you can tell for sure you're travelling?

Is there any way you can tell for sure? I guess that depends on your criteria. What would convince you?

For me, I don't think a vivid dream is proof, or waking with a jolt, or with a pounding heart. I frequently dream vividly (though I don't always remember them when I wake) and I get the jolt/pounding heart usually when I wake myself up on purpose from a nightmare.

For me, flying or at least traveling in the dream would be more convincing. There was one where I was flying over the city I lived in at the time, seeing the lights of cars and buildings below me, the stars above me. I could tilt my "body" to change directions. It was incredibly joyous and freeing. If I ever had an actual OBE while in a dream, that was it. (Not that I necessarily think it was -- probably it was just a very cool dream :) )

I always wondered if I was floating during sleep, because I, too, would wake up from the sensation of 'hitting the bed' even though I don't think the dreams themselves had any 'astral' qualities about them.

"Tell for sure you're traveling" - that is very subjective.

BTW - do you or anyone in your family suffer from airway/throat constrictions or sleep apnea? It is possible that in those seconds between your breathing stopping and your brain 'jumpstarting' you back to life that might account for both the incredibly lucid dreaming and the 'jolt' sensation.

Doesn't that sound SO clinical? :bugeyed: I think I'd rather say 'Last night I astrally projected to Mars' than 'I have severe obstructive sleep apnea.'

i read somewhere, waking with a jolt and the rapid pulse means you've landed back in your physical body...just wish i could remember where i flew off to...
or more details of these dreams....it felt like i was off the ground, not walking around...

think maybe if i actually saw my landings back in my body, it would be proof...

another thought occurred to me....may they're past life flashbacks....
i have been exploring about how to find my past lives own info...
maybe i was some guy's moll, in my latest dream like that...

hard to say if you did then, amethyst, and as laura_borealis said---

I've traveled astrally many times. sometimes when I am asleep as well as when I meditate with the intent to travel. I remember one time, I was flying, with other 'beings' two who were holding my hands and talking to me encouragingly not to be afraid. I remember it vividly, flying over buildings and roads, where it was late at night, but the street lights lit up the streets, and I could see homes and cars and now and again a few people someplace.

Another time, while meditating to do this, I again 'flew' across the ocean to another country in an attempt to do a reading for a person who lived in this other country. I was most definitely in her home, and she even felt me herself, but didn't realize it was 'me' at the time. She had no idea WHEN I was doing the reading. I was able to describe her home exactly, right down to the every rooms decor and what the people in the home were doing, including her pets. It was an amazing experience.

I've done many other astral travels as well, some where I don't recall flying but I do remember being there--often when reading for a client and being able to relate to them what I saw and experienced, and finding out that I was in their home, their parents home, their vacation home, etc. where ever it was. Often times when I do medium readings, the spirits I bring through for the client will also take me (but again, I don't really remember 'flying') to places that were part of their lives. Always able to describe things right down to the smallest of details.

I've been to the akashic records 'library' many times as well, with my guide, and also on my own.

I would recommend that you keep a journal (if you are the journaling kind) and see if this follows a pattern for you. It could be that you are traveling astrally. It also may not happen for a long time again--but then could happen again tomorrow. it's just hard to say.

To The Rescue!

A friend of mine had a similar experience years ago. She was someone I worked with but we had never visited each other. On this one night, my partner and I decided to sleep in the front bedroom altho we preferred the back one for the quiet. I remember it was a less than satisfying sleep - lots of 'disturbance.' Didn't think twice about it.

The next day when i got to work, this friend sought me out and asked all sorts of questions about the previous night -Was I O.K.? Did I experience anything unusual? It seems she determined 'I was in danger' and astrally projected herself over to my house even though she did not know exactly where i lived. It seems there was a 'being' outside my house! She drew a picture of the house across the street - exact! and she drew my bedroom - exact! She flew over, walked into the room, threw a blanket over me and said 'stay down!' until the being had left the outside of my house! The odd (and most interesting) detail is that she had come through the original doorway to the room - which had been blocked up when the entrance to the room was moved!

We had her come over for dinner a week later to see the area herself!

Wow, tarotbear, what an experience for both you and that co-worker! :D

I have done it before, and it scared the crapola out of me! If you watch the movie "Somewhere in Time" it is kind of like doing that. You have to start off with a little meditation if you want to do it consiously, and then you fall almost asleep, start picturing yourself where you want to be. You will manifest your spirit you there, just make sure to use lots of protection, and be safe. I walked around and even turned on a sink!

celticnoodle

oh, I love that movie! and yes, it is sort of like that, you are correct. I don't find it frightening however, but I can understand why some may.
