Compleat Novice's Guide to Alchemy OR How I Learned to Love the Vegetable Stone

Carla

Right, I read something this morning in 'The English Book of Magic' that struck me and made me want to learn more about alchemy. The very word strikes fear in my little heart. It all seems so overwhelming. So...I've come to the well-read yet again!

Please could you recommend good books for the beginner to get an introduction to alchemy, history of, basic concepts involved in, etc.

Warning, I have trouble reading an old-fashioned style such as that used by Israel Regardie et al, so please list titles that hit the ground somewhere right in the middle between Regardie and Silverwolf, ha ha.

Visit Adam McLean's website and save yourself money. Or ask him for a suggestion or 6. He is very VERY hot on this stuff.

I think that will cover everything you can ever need :)

I had a look at that website and felt overwhelmed. Will try again. I need something simple. Like the Fisher-Price My First Look at Alchemy board book.

I'll ask Adam what he would suggest....

Meanwhile (I have done and await a response) there is always this. The series as a whole isn't half bad, so....

Carla, I'm not sure how helpful this would be, but Roob's "Alchemy and Mysticism" was recommended by several people in the Tarot of the Holy Light thread. I think it has lots of pictures.:p

It does indeed. In combo with the Idiot's Guide it would probably ace everything.
