December 2011 Full Moon

Anyone doing anything special?

I don't know the accuracy of this site, I just came across it and as the full moon approaches, thought I would share and maybe get some thoughts from other ATers.

I just do my simple releasing/intentions. But am trying to remember at LEAST the full moon and to do rituals then. I know many of you are really good at all the phases and doing special rituals. I feel lucky if I keep track of the full moon right now!

I like the ceremony from the site you linked to:

Full Moon in Gemini Ceremony:

Too many words or thoughts will confuse things. Rest within the silence. Be still and allow. Quietly listen. Free yourself from electronic devices, stimulants and anything else that will take your attention away from feeling.. being..loving..Now is the time to heal, to let go and to surrender into understanding the insight outside of the right and wrong of any situation. Rise beyond the duality within the mind and feel the compassion flowing.

May you be supported in cleansing, letting go and healing. Wishing you the best!

It's the darkest time of the year right now, and fitting, I think, to observe it in a quiet way. I've never seen the sense of celebrating the sun on the winter solstice and mourning the sun on the autumn equinox, etc. I think we should celebrate where we are right now. I made the mistake last year on 21st Dec of meditating on the sun and shining a light into dark corners, and I was so shaken up it took me a week to get over. For me, the dark is the time to rest. The light is the time to dance.

I may do the Relaxation Sequence and Middle Pillar exercise. Probably lying down in the dark, with one round candle burning to represent the moon...

greatdane, do you use a weekly planner? Llewellyn has a couple different ones, wall calendars, too, that list different amounts of planetary signs and phases. "The Witches Datebook"(I use this one) lists daily moon signs, phases, void-of-course periods, mercury retrograde, and when the Sun moves from sign to sign. You might have better luck keeping track, if you've got the information listed for you, every day. :)

I'll be in farm country, surrounded by trees, participating in a Medicine Wheel ceremony. We will have the whole (very large) wheel outlined with candles. We'll also be drumming. We will all bring a fire offering and have a community altar (everyone brings a few things of their choice).

Glad you liked it, Carla. I hope you share your thoughts afterward about how you felt rituals worked. Sounds like you have it planned out well.

Ah, BlueDragonfly, if only that would be all it took! Really I could tattoo on my hand and it wouldn't help much. I write it down on my calendar and still could miss it! Just have a lot going on and I haven't "trained" myself to be that attuned to the phases yet, but I'm working on it!
But thanks for the thought re that Llewellyn book! I want to get it even if I still need to set a timer for myself on my computer to remind me! Sounds like a great addition for my journals.

BodhiSeed, that just sounds AMAZING! Wish I could see it!

This sounds lovely! There are times when, while I do enjoy working alone, a ritual like this would mean so much.

Carla, I like your thoughts on celebrating the "darkest" full moon in this way. It makes so much sense.

I agree about celebrating "where you are, right now". My celebrations of the Autumnal Equinox, and Winter Solstice do usually reflect that. During the darker half of the year(Equinox to Equinox), I look at the internal journey and workings. On the Winter Solstice(eve), I try to stay up all night, with the light of a candle beside me, as a reminder.

I hope my schedule will allow it this year.

I'm not even at home on saturday... what a shame; I would love to try and meditate during this full moon (with an eclipse!) to see if I can feel any difference in the energies!!

Well, there is a chance/risc that I need to stay at home; a storm is coming and I live on an island, so I need to go by ferry on saturday in order to visit my friend, but the last time we had a storm (only a week and a half ago), the ferry stranded and people onboard were trapped for 18 hours! So we'll see what happens ;)
