Gotta Share

Aeon

: I gotta share this, it was too interesting. As I mentioned previously, I got a new furbaby, we adopted a recently retired greyhound. I came across the spread for pets but hadn't done it as I've been too busy actually working with her and getting to know her over the past week and a half, but it's been on my mind. I've been wondering what she'd been through as a racer. The other day she found my cards in my purple bag and pulled them out and left them in the middle of the floor. Hubby picked them up and put them on the shelf. I went to do my daily practicing and noticed that three of the cards had been nipped. The cards were ::::drum roll:::: ya ready for this.
Four of Pentacles - control
Nine of Wands - perseverance, stamina
7 of Wands - aggression, defiance, conviction

I look at these cards and see the previous owner (just in it for the money) her in her cage feeling defensive and alone and having to stand against others to survive.
I'm definitly doing that pet spread for her soon to see what I can do to help her adjust to a life of leisure.
Anyone get any other feelings from these cards?

Aeon,

First, a really good tarot story.

Second, good for you. If you don't want to know about cruelty by the bucketload, avoid the greyhound story.

I know a lot about dogs, but not much about greyhounds. Of course, they are one of the oldest breeds of dogs, associated with the ancient Egyptians and the Celts. Remember, when Ulysses finally returned, only his old greyhound, Argus, recognized him. Such gentle dogs. I know they are the fastest dogs, but their speed is all in one burst. Not like a coyote, say, who can trot 50 miles, eat a berry, pick his teeth, and trot another 50. Friends have told me a greyhound doesn't require tons of exercise, but make wonderful house companions. So, congratulations for adopting one. They mostly die in horrible and obscene ways.

And, the dog knows tarot! Sounds like a plus to me.

That's a pretty miraculous story and I do NOT believe that it was just coincedential. They say humans don't pay much attention to our intuition and don't notice all the details simply because our minds are exposed to so much at a time. Animals however, have more time and less things to think about (well, I think, anyway) so maybe they pay more attention to intuition (think survival instinct) and details?

It's a Chinese belief that dogs can see dead spirits. My dad used to own a very well trained Doberman and this one time at the beach it became very aggressive and barked and snarled at something invisible. Another chinese belief: A dead spirit's worse fear- dog's blood.

I know I've branched off tarot, but animals know more than we think. That's an awesome dog and I'm glad it's got such a loving home now, toss him/her a bone for me!

Don't mind those crazy html thingies I tried to use in the last message. They didn't turn out as expected!

Aeon,

Congratulations on your new family member! :) She is one lucky dog!

The little mixed breed terrier I currently have was lost. She found my brother-in-law when he came out of the house to go to work. She trotted up to him; he opened the door and called to my sister, "Honey, here's a spare dog!" Even though they put out signs and an ad in the paper, they never found her owner. The fell in love with her but already had the maximum number of dogs allowed by thier city. So I brought her home. She has beautiful manners, a winning personality, and friendliness galore. She's one of the best things that's happened to me. I often wonder what her life was like before, how she got lost, all of that stuff. I don't even know for sure how old she is, just an approximation by the vet.

I'm wondering now what one of those pet spreads tells. I can't remember if I saw the layout somewhere or not (life's been hectic lately). Where did you find it? What does it tell you?

Good luck with the reading for your greyhound. They're such lovely dogs!
