Interesting 1971 witchcraft tv documentary

Well that was entertaining. The exorcist at the end who kept looking over at the camera and then proceeded to head bang while laying hands on the 'victim' made me laugh out loud. It was really great to see Doreen Valiente. I notice most of the witches have incredibly posh voices!

I loved the Salvation Army guy who seemed to be teetering on the edge of belief in the occult, psychic connections, instinct etc yet firmly stuck to his belief that anything not Christian was Satanic.

The accents are just to die for and what tickled me most was a couple of the final comments. One from a woman/nurse who had been in a Satanic cult and was saying how scary and bad it was but then said that she 'hoped' she never went back. Likewise the guy who said he regretted his time on the black path and how he had so many thousands of ££s in the bank but that he would never touch it. Either you will never go back because it was so bad and you truly renounce the ill-gotten gains by giving them away or you don't. Very funny. On the whole though, interesting as a social comment from 40 years ago.

"They look very like the rest of us, and do the sort of jobs we do."

You mean they don't sit around biting the heads off live chickens and spattering each other with blood?

I thought that exorcist was going to break that man's neck!

The suspense is milling me (I CANNOT find the time to watch this till tomorrow.... how long is it, by the way ? So I know whether to take the phone off the hook :))

What a fascinating documentary. I wonder what it would be like if replicated today? I expect something a whole lot more sensationalist...

Me, too- how long?

It's 49 minutes so you'll need a good chunk of time. :)

Yes, 49 minutes of uber serious, very well enunciated but interesting views about witchcraft from the early 70s.
