Pentacles

Le Fanu

I have a beautiful silver cup
I have a beautiful (small) silver sword
I have a beautiful wand

I am looking for a beautiful pentacle (maybe 5-7 inches diameter) for my reading table/possible altar to complete representation of the elements. Can anyone recommend any interesting altar accessory suppliers where I might find pentacles for sale preferably in the UK/Europe.

I have already checked out Holistic Shop, Mystery Lodge and New Moon Occult shop. Silver would be nice but I'm open to anything if it's nice...

HI Le Fanu,

I am not sure if she is still making them, but a few years back Lillie made wooden pentacles using a wood burning tool, if I recall correctly. They were beautiful. Maybe you could ask her if she has any left over?

I bought a green resin coaster of all things with a pentacle on it in a cathedral gift shop. :) Not that it helps you. Sorry. Let me think...

I just cast a Sterling Silver one, with a Celtic braid around it
Ii is s supposed to be a pendant - is a little smaller than a Can 2 $ coin....

Thanks, but I wanted a large-ish one (as in small saucer size). I don't know how big a Canadian $2 coin is but I suspect it isn't as big as a saucer :)

Carla, how nice to stumble across one as a coaster. I bet it was a decent price too. I imagine (in my mind's eye) a stand up silver one. I saw one for sale over Xmas but it wasn't very well made close up.

If the worst comes to the worst I'll get a glass one I saw which looks quite nice. I wanted it to be metal like my other 3 suit symbols.

I have a very plain brass openwork one (same on both sides) about 3 inches across, but I no longer remember where I got it--probably from an independent merchant at some event or convention. I've had it for several years.

As for saucers, the idea comes to me that you might actually end up with a saucer, if you don't mind ceramic instead of metal. You could get a greenware saucer and paint it or have it painted and fired. Then the design would be your own.

They have a nice selection - you might find something close to what you are looking for.

I just use a small unadorned wood saucer. It is not necessary to have a pentagram on it in order to represent the Earth Element. That's sort of a Wiccan innovation (probably suggested by the Rider Waite Pentacles). A silver coaster would also be nice. Most anything round and rather flat would do, as long as it is beautiful.

If I was looking for a pentacle I'd have a look on Etsy but then I really like hand-made things. My husband made mine - it's glass and has a pentagram etched into it (he used to work at a lead crystal glass place). It's lovely and you can put things like tarot cards underneath it when doing spellwork so they don't get wax etc dripped all over them.

That's where I got one from! I bought the brass pentacle, 6th one down. Good service (though all their emails went into junk and I spent days thinking they weren't replying to any of my emails!)

Sulis, yours sounds wonderful. Handy too if you can put cards under it for protection.
