Sea Priestess - Dion Fortune

Carla

I've just begun reading Dion Fortune's novel, The Sea Priestess. Just starting Ch. 9. I wonder if anyone else has read it; perhaps we could have a discussion of the book? I don't want to include any spoilers for those who haven't read it, so not sure how to go about discussing. Would anyone like to discuss? Is there a thread on the Studies forum? Or could there be?

I have read it! It's been about 20 years since, but I have it still on my bedroom bookcase along with all of her others. Those books changed my life as a young occultist & mystic. She is among my favourite esoteric writers & practitioners. My most cherished of hers is The Secrets of Dr. Taverner, with The Sea Priestess a close second. I don't know that I have the time or chatty nature to discuss the book, but will follow your thread silently for sure.

I enjoyed all her novels very much. I think I probably enjoyed The Mystical Qabalah more, but the novels were wonderful and I still have some of them. Others I've passed on but will probably end up acquiring again because it's been a few years since I read them and I think I'd enjoy them again.

Thanks for reminding me of them!

Read it many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.. Not too sure about studying it though since that's something I don't ever tend to do with books, especially fiction.. I'm happy to discuss it with others if a thread is started but I'd probably have to read it again since it's quite a long time since I last read it.

Studying is probably not the right word, discussing is better. :) So far I am really amused by the narrator. He reminds me of an odd combination of Rex Harrison and Bertie Wooster. Some of his period slang completely baffles me. Still not sure what I think of Vivien Le Fay Morgan aka Morgan Le Fay. So far, she seems dangerous.
