I prefer to focus on me, rather than other people, for this type of stuff. I have had to deal with some SERIOUS safety issues, that have been terrifying. The best thing I can do is strengthen myself. I feel like too much thought and emphasis on the other person is giving them some of my power.

I don't like this. This is about controlling people. Not just someone who may have harmed or threatened the spell caster, but anyone who doesn't think or behave the way the spell caster believes they should.

It's an attempt at mind control, it's fascistic, and it's dangerous.

This kind of stuff does not make the world a better place, it would, if it worked, make the world full of mind controlled robots, who do the spell casters bidding because they cannot do otherwise.

There is no difference between enforcing this sort of thing with a machine gun or magic. It's wrong.

What if the spell were changed, to something like this:

all harmful desires are bound.
all harmful acts are blocked.
all harmful actions are confined.
all people with harmful intentions can do
no harm.
any negative energies will be
deflected back to the person who sends them.
all those with harmful intentions will learn
to do only good deeds and send
out only positive energies.
so it is, and so it shall be!

It's still not defining 'harmful'.

What I consider harmful is not necessarily the same as what you do. It's also directed at everyone in the world. It's trying to manipulate everyone to be the way the spell caster desires.

I don't think it would work, like you say, too scattered, and far too broad. But the intention is highly unpleasant.

And as for the machine gun, why not? Trying to manipulate people by magic is born of the same intention as manipulating them by force. The fact that it is supposed to be for the greater good makes no difference. It's still the exercise of power and control.

Also If people have no choice to be bad then being good is meaningless.

To aim anything against a huge amount of unspecified people (most of whom are not known to the person in question), for unspecified crimes, and to constrain their future actions, for no better reason than the spell caster thinks they know best how people should live their lives. No. I can't see that as anything by morally wrong.

And I don't have many morals at the best of times.
And maybe that's the thing.
Some of what I do would be considered generically harmful by certain sections of the population. In my opinion it's not. I don't harm other people and what I do to myself is my business.
No one with a spell book, a lack of knowledge and an ignorant attitude has the right to stand as judge and jury over me, and to exact retribution for my supposed crimes.
