Watching eyes

This may sound a bit weird but I sometimes see eyes staring at me, in my mind when I'm about to sleep. I suddenly see a pair of eyes watching me and then it just disappears. This has happened quite often but it doesn't seem scary or negative. Lately, before going to bed when I shut my eyes, I've started seeing these beautiful eyes and I somehow know they belong to an animal- probably a horse. I'm a bit confused about the whole eyes thing. Any ideas regarding this would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's a classic hypnogogic response. Lots of people see this (me included) but it doesn't seem to mean much. I've wondered if it were a spirit vision or some sort of mediumship connection but there is no information or sense of presence behind the faces/eyes so perhaps it's just our minds doing a few limbering up exercises before dreamtime?

Interesting that you also feel they belong to a horse, which makes me wonder if you have looked up the dream meaning/symbology of horse? That may help you to determine what the eyes mean. Or perhaps, horse is a totem animal?

It is funny, as the other night, I also had a white horse come to me, and I forgot about it till I read this post. I am going to go look it up soon. Hope you can determine what it means for you.

Thank you for the link Millie. I will check it out. Yeah I wondered too whether it was spirit related. Last night googling I read that seeing eyes in your mind's eye means your spirit guides are looking at you and checking on you. Don't know if that's true or not. haha

I quite often dream of faces that start out human but go through lightning fast transfigurations, through a series of weird and bizarre forms. For example, a smile becomes a leer, then the mouth way too large, then the whole face shape changes to something not human (not animal either) and usually it just disintegrates and disappears. It should be frightening, but always in my dream I simply watch this happening, as if it were not scary but something I just need to sit and wait to finish. It usually happens as I am falling asleep or just as I am coming out of sleep. I've tried to talk to a few people about it, but when I describe it, it sounds very scary, and I'm not scared during the dream. I'm only scared when I start trying to talk about it, when I realise how very bizarre the images are. What do you make of this?
