Zodiacal twist

Simia_dei

Hello.

I've been studying thoth deck for about a year and wondering about this zodiacal twist in it. Ok, there's this symmetrical change that puts astrological and other correspondences right, but it just seems somehow odd that the change should be made to the "model" of cosmos, so to speak, and not the cards themselves. I mean, wouldn't it be more convenient to try and reinterpret the symbolism in the cards to be more in harmony with the zodiac and other symbolic structures than to make these twists, which seem a bit too arbitrary. Most books on the deck seem to take this for granted or just ignore it, even Duquette just repeats what A.C. himself wrote in book of thoth without questioning it at all.

I have to admit that I have rather inadequate knowledge of astrology and I have read Crowley far too little to say anything for sure. So maybe someone with a bit of larger quantity of knowledge could shed some light on this.
