STAR- Dream coming true or BS?

GotH

I'd like to talk to somebody about the STAR card?

Do you feel this card is about dreams and hopes coming true at some point in time or is it more like a- HUH! YOU WISH card? Sometimes when I see this card come up I think of the refrain from the old song, You Can't Touch This.

I know, I know surrounding cards dictate the outcome or deeper meaning of it but as it stands alone, what's your honest opinion on it?

The Star to me speaks of good things coming. I often feel that it can indicate that the topic in question has more of a future than the person can even imagine when asking the question. I feel it's an optimistic card, hopeful and bright.
And in love, I feel it speaks of harmony within a relationship and a deep appreciation for one another.

If the question is about something you are hoping for (as opposed to feelings type question), for me this card means to keep positive and stay the course as your dreams will come to fruition ... eventually. I don't see this as a "you wish" type of card.

This is so nice to read!!! I'm feeling rather cynical today on a lot of things but reading this brings me back to the positive chick I really am. Thanks for this...

Awesome.. A reflection from above. Just what I needed to read right now. Thanks Kgirl!!!

It could be either. It all depends on how much time and effort you're willing to give to make the dream come true. The Star says "this dream/hope can come true...but only in the future and only if you keep your eye on it and don't wander off." That's a big "if" for most people. We all lay back, gaze up at stars and dream big dreams. Having money, fame, marriage to this or that person...but all too often, what those dreams are really about is someone handing us these things, gratis, tomorrow. Some rich relative will leave us the money (tomorrow), some YouTube video we uploaded will go viral (tomorrow) and make us famous, and the person we want to marry will (tomorrow) look at us and decide we are their one true love. We will gain it all, in no time at all, and not have to do a thing.

One of the most important things a reader of Tarot must understand is that very, very few of the cards in the deck promise us a quick, instant, and easy change in fortune (Wheel of Fortune is one of the few, in fact, that says things will change for us just because).

The Star is one of those that promises us what we want, but only with time and dedication. When we get the Star card, we should image that we're like the captain of a ship in days of old. We're at sea, out of sight of land, with no idea of where we are. But there is a star in the clear sky by which we can navigate. Will it lead us to land? Yes. But we have to keep our focus on it, keep on sailing, and be willing to get there when we get there. If, at any time, we get distracted, say, "I think I'll follow those dolphins instead..." or if we give up, "This is taking too long/it's too hard, I'm going to try something else..." then we will not get there. It's as simple as that. Your dream requires that you keep that star always on the horizon, and never turn your ship away from it.

If you can do that, it will come true. If you can't, then "huh, you wish!" :D

And so after that, clarity came to the goddessofthehunter. :D I really like that metaphor of the captain navigating to land by the STAR. So this is a- you can do it, you can get there but keep focused card. I can comprehend that totally. Thank you!

For me the star card is more like aspiration. Its not so much a wish or an impractical or romantic dream, it is something we see 'up there' that we want to grasp, something to emulate, something that gives us hope. A guiding light that leads us forward. It could be a person or principle that we emulate. They can lead us forward like the light at the end of the tunnel, they illuminate and can represent that thing we hold fast to as we traverse places that may seem dark or unpleasant.

Also it is an energy that is radiated out, some people do this ... it is distinctive from Sun or Moon energy. Its also your essential nature and being .... shining forth. That pin-point of energy inside that illuminates the whole being ... but more 'the energy' without a specific form .

Every woman and every man is a star, with their own unique individuality, direction and destination.

I see it as a sign of hope and health. Thinking that it . or what it represents is unachievable or unattainable ( like the literal stars) is the one thing that will make it so. In a way, it is a symbol of the human spirit , much can be achieved, but not just on our own, but through the principles and understandings and forms in nature.

Thats why I like this version, with all the Forms pouring forth ; crystals, flowers, butterflies - dont forget to pour some over yourself (the card is also a glyph for a 'fountain techniques' for self invigoration/rejuvenation).

...

" I admire still more than the saw-mill the skill which, on the sea-shore, makes the tides drive the wheels and grind corn, and which thus embraces the assistance of the moon, like a hired band, to grind, and wind, and pump, and saw, and split stone, and roll iron.

"Now that is the wisdom of a man, in every instance of his labor, to hitch his wagon to a star, and see his chore done by the gods themselves. That is the way we are strong, by borrowing the might of the elements. The forces of steam, gravity, galvanism, light, magnets, wind, fire, serve us day by day, and cost us nothing.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson from American Civilization (1862)

The pic you posted. Exactly. :)

So raven, if I understood you correctly, you feel the Star card is more about radiating energy than it is more about hope or faith to obtain a goal?

I think it is both ... I'm being a bit broad and general because the card isnt defined in a reading .

One the one hand it is what we follow , an emulation ... an aspiration towards a thing, person , principle, etc ... a guiding light ..... when we see it 'outside' of ourselves.

But when someone is ... 'firmly on course' THEY radiate a 'Star energy' themselves, its like the star becomes incorporated into their being, then , they may shine like a star themselves ... they will be connected to their true will and purpose and the course of their own star that has become themselves.

Sorta like in that pic ... the three wise men see the star, and from their perspective the star is ...' over there', so they follow it, it gives them direction, but from Christ's perspective the star would be within.

What do you do when you follow a star and get closer and closer until it is directly overhead ? The only place to go is up.

Visualising a brilliant brightly burning blue-white star above your head is a pretty cool meditation ( and feeling ) - not too far above .... just .... within reach ;) .
