Your experiences when you had a professional tarot/psychic reading

Essence of Winter

I decided to get my first ever psychic reading out of curiosity. Since it was an impulsive decision I had nothing to ask and just said tell me what I need to know. I can't remember most of what she said except that I was going to make a major, life-changing decision within a year. At the time I was still living with my parents, I had a job I enjoyed, and I was going to school. I had a long-distance boyfriend but I didn't see much of a future for us. For the most part I was content and had no plans to change my comfortable lifestyle. Within a year the relationship with my boyfriend became serious and I decided to move across the country to be with him. I was quite sheltered and spoiled with strict parents so letting me go was a complete surprise. I still can't believe I had the courage (or stupidity) to move in with someone I had met online and had only seen in person a few times to a large city with no friends and family nearby. Mad props to that psychic! I'm now happily married to the guy (except when he leaves dirty dishes everywhere, and lets the recycling bin overflow).

To be fair, chances are that in your circumstances and what I infer to be your age range at the time, you would make a life-changing decision within a year.

Yeah I agree it was a vague prediction that would fit most people. At the time though I felt it didn't sound like something that would apply to me. If there was a life changing decision to be made that year I'd be against whatever it was if I could help it.

$40 paid to a person who told me absolutely nothing. How do people get away with this? I guess they get away with it because some people don't know any better, people like me, a long time ago.

Good question.

When I went to this spiritual convention a few years ago and against my better judgement tried a reader or was it two - I knew I could do a better reading for myself!:bugeyed:

And that is the thing, I know I can do better readings than some of the ones I have either seen and/or heard about myself or via friends. I really do not get why some think they can get away with such pitiful mediocre readings. And I am not saying everyone has to be a Sylvia Brown.

My elderly neighbor that saw this so called Gypsy Palm reader a few years back was more or less told to eat bananas and not fly anywhere around her birthday. That is about it really. And that was not off of her palm, but her birth sign!!!!. I was so unimpressed as I knew she was looking for answers to some deep issues in her life. I walked away from that reading 10 minutes into it as she was not the real deal.

Some should not be reading at all when what comes out of their mouths is like something being pulled out of their backsides with no substance.

<grin> Intuition isn't psychic, being psychic isn't being intuitive?

You'd have to ask them - we couldn't possibly know.

You haven't had many readings in your life, right? If you are sitting with someone, it's really easy to tell when they are overly emotional, and most people who haven't had many readings are expecting to be emotional during the reading and become emotional, so all she has to do to impress you with her "powers" is say that she can feel your emotions. As a reader myself, I don't really have a lot of respect for readers who haven't learnt how to shield themselves so that they don't become emotional when you are - it's one of the first things you should learn. It's great to know when your clients are emotional - it's bad to feel their emotions yourself. It's even worse to claim you are feeling their emotional to impress them. :(

Was it full of specific, individual stuff, or human-nature stuff?

Lots and lots and lots and lots of males go through a motorbike period - it's a pretty safe thing to predict. :)

Given how disrespectful humans are of their environment, putting on shoes whenever you leave the house in urban environments is only safety-first. I'd never dream of leaving the house barefoot. And in rural Australia (I don't know about your country) you occasionally find poisonous snakes, so shoes are a good idea, too. That's just common sense, not a brilliant prediction.

Ah, yes, time-honoured stage-trick of mentioning names or initials until you find one that the client reacts to. <sigh>

If you were happy, that's the main thing.

As a reader my criterion is this: Is my reading USEFUL in their life? I don't care whether I impress them at all or not. I'm much more concerned with whether I give them useful information on which they can make practical decisions in their lives.

Im probably ignorant in this regard so I apologise, but I do see a slight difference in intuition and being psychic. Not two separate entities, kind of more like the level or degree in which one can utilise their abilities.

I have had 4 readings in the past 8 years, 2 of them being in last year alone. I do agree with you that it's easy to pick up on people's emotions but I'm very good at covering my emotions so hence the reason I was taken aback when she said she felt the way she did as I'm a master of disguise lol... I didn't confirm to her that I was feeling that way after she told me either I just sat there very stoically being all poker face like :)

The First Lady started the reading and was basically like don't say anything, I'll talk and then later you can tell me if that meant anything to you. The second lady wanted to go back and forth throughout the reading. Both used tarot, the First Lady only using the one deck whilst the second lady seriously used at least 8 different decks. With the second lady there were lots of; someone you know is pregnant, someone you know wants to fall pregnant, you'll be going overseas, going on a cruise, going to America, reestablishing work and gaining more education, someone will be joining the police force etc.., But she did pick up on a lot of other stuff that would not apply to anyone else and like said I was in poker face peony mode. She predicted a lot of other major things like more children and the age I'll be, even though children are the last things on my mind and I've been content with just the one, not planning on anymore. So I guess we'll see about that one too.

I too live in Australia (on the eastern seaboard) and although we have snakes and spiders, children still play in their backyards barefoot or in the parks barefoot it's definitely not a high danger zone in our area. But I do get where your coming from as it's just common sense. Motorbikes are huge pastimes here with parents giving their children their first motorbikes at 4 years old so that too could just be a no brainer thing to throw at me.

I think overall, even if I did walk away with a bit of doubt about their genuineness, I felt more at peace (even if I was told by both that there will be a huge upheaval happening and that by Christmas 2015 my life won't resemble what it was. Mind you, my life has been the same for ages, the only change that happens is planned way in advance because change can be scary for me haha so twill be interesting to see how this major upheaval transforms me)...

They both did give me practical routes to take...

Thank you heaps for your feedback xx

That's awesome and reminds me of my first session with a psychic. I just went for fun not needing to really know anything or what to expect so just sat there and listened to everything she said. I wrote it all down, put it away, forgot about it then a few years later found it and was blown away by how most of her predictions had come true.

Thanks for your story x

The first reader I ever saw was when I was around the age of 16 or 17 and she was this very old British woman (I think) that traveled from place to place reading from hotel rooms etc.

She was truly AMAZING! :bugeyed:

I do recall she used Tarot cards, but to be honest she really didn't need them at all.

She mentioned a lot of things to remember and even pointed her finger at me at one point and said:

"Two of you are going abroad. One will stay beyond the borders of the USA and Canada in the USA and the other will go on to Canada. Please remember these names as they will be important to you in the coming months". And she fired off about 4 names.

About 8 to 10 months later I received this huge package in the post as I had been accepted as an exchange student to the USA for a year. And in that paperwork were the names of my host American family. Two of the names she had spouted out were the names of my host parents. When I finally got to the USA the other names were some of the friends I made there and still am friends with to this day. One was a normal name and the other Spanish. :D:thumbsup: As for Canada, another girl in my school was chosen to go there, and we left at the same time but separated in LA where EVERYONE met up for one week then went to where ever.

Am so glad she was my first experience because I was very nervous and not sure what to expect, but she was a total pro and the real deal.

ALL readers should be up to that same high standard no matter what their craft is etc.

OOOPpppssss....almost forgot.... I was near the borders of Canada and the USA. :D

I guess the sad thing is that a lot of the people that go for readings are at a point in their life where they need clarity, need guidance etc which can make it very easy to be taken advantage of.

That's sounds like an amazing experience! I agree that everyone should be able to experience a session with someone who is genuine, not to mention talented.

I actually just remembered a strange story... Back in 2011 I was on holiday in Thailand and met these older ladies whom I just clicked with. We would run into each other everywhere and chat for hours and tell each other personal details of our lives. We never exchanged numbers or anything and I left not even remembering their names. Last year in June I was on holiday in Thailand again and I just so happen so run into the same ladies at the same hotel. We got to chatting again and I mentioned my name. They kind of looked shocked. I asked them what was wrong and they said that previously to going on holiday one of them had gone to see a past life psychic. The psychic told the lady that she is going on holiday with another lady which was her sister in their previous life. She also said soon you will both be reunified with your other sister and then gave them my name. They didn't think anything of it, didn't even know anyone with my name, until I mentioned my name to them and we just so happened to be in the same country, at the same hotel at the same time. Crazy.

That is actually rather cool never heard anything like that before. WOW!

Past Life experiences & lives can be really fascinating and sometimes the opposite.....

A Japanese friend of mine in at least 3 of her lives (she saw it all herself in dreams etc) was murdered as well as her child I think or at least the threat of it was there. In one life she was French, another Chinese, and I think also Japanese.

When I met her, some months later she befriended an Empath, and this was when the dreams started and the revelations of her Past Lives. That friend was actually her child in those other lives or even a parent.

Later...she met the "one" that had killed her in each life and told me she knew he had not changed, also, that Psychically he was connected to her from the moment they met again.
She was really afraid as she didn't want the same thing to happen in this life, so was doing everything possible to alter that course or path.

I left Japan so am not sure what has happened since, but the last thing she told me was that she was blocking him from Psychic attacks and working out ways to keep him away from her and the Empath.

I should try and touch base with her again only I think I may have left it too long.

At least for you - it was a really good reunification of souls. :)

I haven't read through everyone's posts yet, but will surely, as this is my favorite subject to talk about. :D

My mother use to take us girls and sometimes friends of ours to get our tarot cards read, (she refused to ever read for family), and quite a few of them were also very psychic. I remember one time going there and my mothers reading told her that she would inherit a lot of money from a man she knew but had no contact with. The man was furthered described as a slender built, dark haired, blue eyed man. The reader mentioned there would be a lot of things going on in regards to the will, and some fighting as well to get it.

Mother always swore that was ridiculous, as she didn't know anyone to fit that bill that would leave her money or that she'd fight for- and just laughed it off. Well, at least 20 + years later, guess what happened? Mom did indeed get A LOT of money from her brother. She and her brother hadn't spoken in many, many years, and they lost track of each other. He did have a will drawn up, and everyone who was close to him knew about this will, but the will was never registered and had disappeared. So the person who was to inherit, did not inherit and instead his assets went to his closest relatives--his 3 living sisters, my mother being one of them.

I had a reading again at the same place where mom had the above reading, and was told that I would meet and marry my s.o. around a holiday and she gave me his 3 initials. Told me what he did for a living, how he dressed, what he looked like and that we would do a lot of world traveling. Well, he sounded ideal to me, but I also laughed it off and forgot this reading. Awhile later, I did meet a wonderful man, and we enjoyed each others company immensely--he was a keeper, I knew! We moved in together for awhile before we married too. However, it was before we actually moved in together that I remembered the reading, and having had taken notes, pulled it out to go over, and everything this woman predicted was 100% right on! Right down to his initials!

One reason I laughed it off, is that my sister also had a reading by this woman and she read pretty much the same thing to her, talking about how she'd meet and marry her s.o. soon, his initials, and more. So, we had figured that she was giving this same reading to all the young girls who came before her.

My young niece, is very psychic, and one day when she went to my moms home to be babysat, she walked up to my mother and told her that her parents were going to divorce each other. My mother was shocked and assured this niece, (who was at the time about 4yoa) that she was wrong and "if mommy & daddy are fighting, they'll work it out", etc. etc. to reassure this niece. My sister and her husband were also shocked that she would say this, but the niece kept right on and said "daddy is leaving for another woman". My sister, bro in law & the children were shopping one day and ran into this woman (we all went to school together & knew each other) and my niece was quite rude to the woman and later mentioned that "that's the woman daddy will leave us for!"

Now, fast forward many years, and sure enough, later on didn't my bro in law and this very woman have an affair (both being married to others) and my bro in law left my sister for this woman! So, even my young niece could predict something far in advance.

I have many stories of where predictions came true like this. Some I've even been able to predict myself. So, yes, it can come to be, and while I don't know how old your son is, I'm willing to bet he will end up motor biking with someone he is close to. Hold onto this reading, and check back in some years to see if it came to be! :D
