Cards at last column of GT meaning ending?

Teheuti

If you read Houses they will influence the cards in the final column of a Grand Tableau:

• 4x9 final column on the right: Bouquet, Dog, Letter, Cross.

• 4x8(+4) final column on the right: Coffin, Star, Heart, Moon.

I didn't realize that the final column in a 4x9 Grand Tableau actually was any significance to the reading.

What is the significance of the final column in a 4 x 9 Tableau ? Is it the outcome to the reading ?

The final column in a Grand Tableau is the furtherest into the future that one can see in the cards (if you read left-to-right it is the right-most column; if you read right-to-left it is the left-most column). If you read vertical columns as a set then it is the furtherest future - some people read it as an outcome. I tend to see it as a possibility or potential. Note that if you use Near&Far meanings for the cards, then it MAY be the location of the Far meanings, where several of the cards have a whole different significance.

I did a GT for a friend recently but a 9x4 one, and she ended up in the top right hand corner, so i told her that its not showing her no future because she has so much stuff in her past she needs to sort out and get over before she can move on, which totally made sense with stuff she has recently gone through.

But i did say to her that its lucky she at least landed at the top of the tableau so at least she is in control of whats going on and shes not got too much weighing on top of her, which i think would be even worse to land bottom right hand corner.

Also her recent ex landed in the same column as her but beneath her so i told her this is because she has not yet moved on from him, but at least once again she's above him not below.
I follow Rana Georges methis when the sitter's card lands in the last column.
I tell them the scoop on the present and past. Then reshuffle and lay cards out again.

Not necessarily....

4 x 9

If MAN was on MAN (last row) then he would be consumed with himself (doesn't mean a relationship is over), but the surrounding cards have to be considered too. If WOMAN was on HOUSE then maybe it is the matters of the HOUSE and/or feeling secure is where she is at - being positioned there. Distance can be that she is just ahead of him in the "cycle" of things.

All comes down to what is asked and how the cards position themselves around the people cards and/or houses.

I just want to clarify: The purpose of this thread is a focus on the cards falling in the last column. Just those 4 cards falling into the GT's last column. Not the bottom row. I apologize if my OP was confusing. But On your mention of houses...it does relate, as if I saw for instance, the Ring in the house of the letter in a 4x9, I would look deeper into the situation if he ring by knighting and chainibg houses and also looking at surrounding cards.

Totally my point! :)

Thank you for adding this. I also look to what houses the cards fall into. However, it must be taken in as support to what the GT on its face is saying. When I do a GT, I list all 36 houses and write the interpretation for the card that is in that house. Gives extra into for the sitter's situations. And more depth. Bf I always first read the sitter's card and he past/future (row they are in). It's all fluid.

Who does the near - far method? Is that a german or French trend? I can't use any more techniques for now or my head will explode! Just remembering to take into consideration the house the card is in, knighting, mirroring, and chaining, if needed, is enough for me after I read the card and its neighbors. Whew! Tired just writing that!

And now I'm concerned with this last column as being significant: you know, maybe it comes from the theory a person "walks off the tableau" if they are in the last column. One of Rana's podcasts mentioned it in a sample GT. There, he Lady card was in house 9, and she "stood" on the scythe, which was directly below her in house of the dog. So, naturally it just seems no matter the column, neighboring cards and houses the cards are in just paint the whole picture for you.

That is the original method of reading the cards found in the instruction sheet (circa 1846) that came with every set of Lenormand cards until very recently.

For instance:
"Coffin very close to the person, invariably means serious illness, death and the total loss of fortune. Further from the person this card is less dangerous."
"Birds means difficulties that one will have to withstand, but of short duration. Far from the person, this card is the sign of a happy trip."

These meanings are still used today by a great many Lenormand readers, even when they're supplemented with more modern meanings.

*embarrassed*
Oh, duh! I'm a doofus.
Rana talks about this with every card! If tree is close by to the sitter's card, health is a concern, etc. I'm sorry, but I for some reason thought it had more to do with distance beteeen cards and not not in relation to just the sitter's card.

So, if you state the GT is for 3 months before you lay the cards, and the ring lies in the end of a row, that means a situation with the ring will occur at the end of 3 months, right?
