All the tarot readings done for me were... wrong!

Torann

So, I've been to 4 readers in the past year. Partly out of curiosity because I wanted to see how they were reading their cards and partly because I find reading for myself really difficult. And I just wanted to know...

Thus I wanted an unbiased vision of my situation. But here it comes... all the readings were wrong. They did resonate, but none of them were correct. I was told that I would find the love of my life (nope), I was told that my career would finally lift off...(nope). That my finances were improving (nope), ... There was even one that is well known (youtube) who did a reading for me and even that was completely wrong on every level.

The strange thing is that the reader I visited in november 2015 and the one I visited in november 2016 were telling the exact same story.

The major thing that really happened in my life during 2016 (finding emotional balance, letting go of al the negativity, finding new friends)... that they missed.

You have to know that where I live, they always do a mix of Tarot and Lenormand. So they always are 'predictive'.

What are your thoughts about this? Because I find it quite frustrating. :)

this is a fairly common long and contentious subject here.
I do not believe anyone can tell the future. Think about it...

But the path you took from those readings (finding emotional balance, letting go of al the negativity, finding new friends) is the strength of using the cards. They put YOU in charge of your own path. And as/if you work on your own life and goals you will get to where you need to be.

Yeah but still... friends went to the same readers and their 'predictions' did occur.

And they really didn't see that I would be working on myself nor did they advise me to do so. They didn't gave my any insights to my emotional wellbeing or whatever. It was something I decided to do BEFORE i went to the readings.

Honestly I find predictions very dangerous. Suppose I was fairly desperate and those things they predicted don't happen... imagine the disappointment. That could even be dangerous if the sitter is perhaps suicidal.

I agree with you up to a point. I don't do predictive readings, as I am sure the future is not set in stone anyway.

But I have to ask - given that you think they are so dangerous, why on earth did you go for - not one, but FOUR of them ?

You say yourself the readings resonates - maybe that's what they were for - to resonate you into the place you needed to attend to. And have you considered that the love of your life could be yourself - that you had to learn to love yourself, before moving further and that the balance you have now found will enable you to do that ?

Torann, don't you think we all are responsible of our own lives? Yes, I understand what you say about predictions and disappointments. But life simply does not work that way that someone can promise certain things to come and they do. Tarot can only show probabilities, I believe.

Perhaps the readers saw that you were on the path of ridding the negativity, which is the first step in finding love, better career etc. If you're pessimistic, there's no way you put in the effort to get what you want - you won't do it, if you don't believe in potential reward.

Now you're on your way towards something better because YOU made the decision to work on your life. Cards are not promises and we can't live life like petulant kids "but you promised!". They are possibilities.

Those predictions perhaps boosted your confidence and interest towards the changes, and your life still continues, meaning that all of the predictions can come true. Life, tarot or love are not science but "art" - there's no surefire formula to get it right and get any of those happen on schedule. You can only put in your best effort and intentions and see what comes.

Btw your question is the reason I stopped reading for clients in person. Too many people want the cards to promise things without them actually making the effort (I'm not saying you haven't put in the effort, this topic just reminded me of my own frustration with people who passively await for the universe to deliver).

I think you've read my post a bit too quickly. It was partly as a learning experience (I wanted to see how they would read their cards). As out of curiosity.

Love of my life... myself. Well... no that is way too easy. They were way more specific than that. Some even went so far as telling me how their accent would be and even the color of their skin.

Oh but I didn't sit around and waited. I've really put myself out there. :)

Certainly it isn't easy to find a good fortune-teller. And/or a fortune-teller who will have the courage to say you: well, I don't see real improvements in any area in your future currently, sorry!
I think a customer comes generally to hear encouraging news, if it isn't the case he/she could be a bit disappointed in the moment.

Probably many people could say that they can hear everything, good or bad news, but I have this idea that a majority of people don't want to hear bad or sad news.
We can pull the cards for ourself, it's a good solution!

I know where you are coming from. I have never been easy to read and don't usual go to other readers because I don't believe what they say to me. But I will say one thing that your rant put me in mind of: For years I denied my own sexuality (I am gay, always have been, but always was of the opinion (with no outside suggestion) that I was straight. When I finally came out, at least one person told me she would make passes at me and I never even picked up on it. But several readers over the years have said: I have a love just waiting for me to notice, if I would only look up. Maybe they were right all along.

So maybe you HAVE met the love of your life and just didn't realize it.

On the other hand: I truly believe the future is OURS to control and no one can predict what WILL happen to us. So I don't believe in "predictive" readings.

Now we're talking! ;)

I think you have a really interesting point there. The first reader (i visited somewhere in november of 2015 - it was a gift from a friend) and the last reader (november 2016 - a gift to myself because she is really famous in my part of the country) told exactly the same story. And I really felt that the first reader was very... "reserved". It was like she was holding back. But then she talked about timings... I would meet somebody in april, have a great job during summer time that would be long lasting... and my significant other would be joining my business by the end of the year. Now, if I, as a reader, would see that the changes would not be happening immediately or if I would feel that it would take a very long time before it happens then I wouldn't talk about timings but I would be "vague".

The first reader I've met some 25 years ago. Her reading then was 100% accurate. The second time I went to a reading was with the same woman... 25 years later. So I've been to 5 readings in total. :) And I had one during a job application (but that doesn't count :D ).

The two others were highly recommended... but i didn't felt it 100%. There was one who told me that I would have an affair with someone who was married (hell no!). And that I would have quite a few one night stands (hell no!) Not that I condemn one night stands, but it's just not for me.
