To get a sponsor, you should arrange to meet in a social setting first. That is all it takes. Members are obligated to take enquiries seriously. This is the chance to sound each other out. You don't have to know member aquaintances from way back waiting in the wings to vouch for your good name. "Fraternal" should be taken to imply "friendship" first and foremost. So a casual meeting is your chance to become friends. Once you make the link, and if it is friendly, your association will hold you in good standing if the chance for official initiation should arise.
If you are serious and sincere, it will all work out.
