Has anyone ever seen a tarot deck done in landscape rather than portrait orientation?

I haven't, but it seems like many of the ideas I have for cards would be better suited to a wider 'screen,' and I was wondering if I should follow my impulse or try to rework.

Okay, this deck will be just for my own use, so I'm sure the short answer is 'Suit yourself.' :-D I'm mainly asking if there are drawbacks to using that orientation that would make the deck less than useful?

The only thing I can think of is that it might be difficult to hold and/or shuffle (assuming that the cards will be 'longer than they are high'). Or am I missing the point entirely?

That can be a good thing, if someone's shooting arrows at you. :D

The Amazon Tarot has a mix of portrait- and landscape-oriented cards:

The Wolf Pack Tarot (which is really an oracle deck) is landscape-oriented:

The main obstacle I see with this orientation is getting accustomed to dealing the cards onto the table (or floor, whatever) "sideways." Personally I think my wrist would feel weird for awhile at first. Other than that, I see no problem with shuffling, etc.; they can be held and shuffled the same as portrait-oriented cards.
