It's really too early to say anything about cardstock or any physical details like that. We'll let you know as and when these details emerge - but that may be months off I'm afraid. We have discussed book and box though - and decided that we need a full companion book for this one as there is a lot to say and also a lot to show.... it will be easy to read as a straight RWS if that's what people want to do. But basically, the need for the deck to be true to Alice will take precidence over the need for it to be true to RWS.
Thanks, Karen. Alice in Wonderland is such a cool story. I'm as excited as everyone else to see how this deck turns out.

:) Chiming in with the excitement. A Baba dark Alice? Sounds like it will be beautiful, deep and awesome.

I can't wait to see the first images... and can't wait to get my preorder in :D

Thank you Karen and Alex!

It's hard to say just how dark it will be - and I suppose it will be a matter of opinion anyway. But it's certainly not going to be a sugary Disneyfication. It's more inspired by things like this:

and, actually, by my own terrified reaction when I read the book when I was about ten years old. I want to get some of that into the deck. Beautiful, but weird, you know.

It's such a dark story that will translate well into a deck.

Very cool. Can you say that we are enthusiastic? Indeed!

I agree. Alice is quite dark - especially Alice Through the Looking Glass which is actually my favourite. Humpty Dumpty and his death joke - very dark.

*lobbying quietly for Teniel's Jabberwocky somewhere, even if just on an extra card*

If anyone is going to buy the books, may I suggest Martin Gardner's Annotated version? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Annotated_Alice Which has the Wasp episode that was cut out of the book and all the Tenniel illustrations.

Here's the Wasp from another edition of the book.

Karen, thank you for the YouTube clip. I also noticed that it struck a cord with Pink Floyd's, Sid Barrett. They used some frames from that particular film clip for their song, "See Emily Play."

And I *love*Pink Floyd.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Now, would you please show us a little bit of a corner from one of your cards for a complete and evil tease? })

There's a new Alice in Wonderland movie that is coming out in March of 2010
that seems a bit dark. It's by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp.
Will go along great with this new deck!
