Protection against negative energy?

Hello all,

I am a conduit for energy, positive and negative. I feel other people's energy as clearly as if it was mine and can "read" someone very quickly.

There is a lot of negative energy flying around me at present (not mine) and I was wondering if any of you would know of a way I could protect myself against it?
Crystals? Prayers?

Grateful for any feedback here...

both crystals and prayers are good ways to protect yourself of negative energies. I like to pray to Archangel Michael, myself. But, also do your best to keep a positive outlook on things. Stay as positive yourself as you can.

Making sure you ground yourself is also important. Black Obsydian and Black Tourmaline are good crystals to keep on you for absorbing negative energies. I also like Jet or black onyx for the same thing. Also surrounding yourself with white light-and seeing this white light literally envelope your body completely, will help too. Meditation is another good option.

Thanks for this. I do wear crystal bracelets and one of them is made of black onyx.

Visualizations are a great idea. And so is meditation.

Have a healthy physical body, and a truly optimistic mind. Almost nothing can get through that, even energy directed by trained specialists. Random negatives won't have any chance at all. :)

Dwelling on getting rid of negative energy actually feeds it and makes its effect on you stronger. So just make yourself immune in the first place.

I understand what you are saying. And I believe that I take good care of myself.
There are times though when events affect us because of our involvement in them so it's hard to be optimistic *all* the time ;)

While external things such as amulets, crystals etc can give us help both metaphysically and psychologically, it's what we do to learn and develop our senses which makes all the difference.

When you say that you know this is not your negative energy, how do you recognise that? What makes it feel like someone else's emotion and not yours? Recognising that difference is the first step to being able to a) determine the emotion, b) experience it and pick up information and c) then be able to distance yourself.

It's probably different with everyone but sometimes I just have to distance myself physically from that person. If that's not possible, then doing something symbolic such as creating a very small, quick ritual which you can easily do anywhere, possibly in connection to an amulet that you create. Lots of medicine bags are intended to work in a similar way, bringing certain strengths and protection in conjunction with that particular person (so the contents are often highly specific).

If you have a good (trusted and firm) connection with a guide or ancestor who teaches you, then perhaps you could ask about creating something which would help you to develop, learn and find balance with the empathic senses that you have.

I just know. I sense it. I feel heaviness all around me and pressure on my chest cavity.
And then I read my Tarot cards and they confirm that negative energy emanates from certain people around me (no physical contact to them).

I did not know what medicine bags were until today and just looked up their significance. I have started collecting crystals and other items but they are sitting on the side of my bed...

Yes, I have a trusted guardian angel and will start asking for his help.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions on what/how to ask?
My prayers have been answered before so I know that I am being heard, but how best to phrase my request for help? Is that something that you have done yourself?

personal experience, I don't think it matters how you word your request.
I think it only matters that the request HAS been verbalized. Some of
my most inept and awkwardly worded prayers have received an answer.

I have a few more ideas for protecting yourself from negative energy:

I like to do a simple "circle of light" meditation. I imagine that I am in the
middle of beautiful, misty, white light, almost as if I am enclosed in an egg,
and I say, "I am surrounded by the bright, white light of Universal love and
protection. Within it I am safe and blessed". I repeat that a few times and
imagine the white light growing stronger around me.

Also, in an energy healing class, I learned something called the "zip-up"
method. You take a deep breath and, as you are breathing in, you make a
motion with you hand as if you are wearing a coat and zipping it up from
your hips to your throat. This is meant to symbolize that you are closing
yourself off from other people's energy and creating a protective barrier
between yourself and them.

Whichever method of self-protection you choose, I agree with Nisaba's post.
It is most effective if you don't dwell on it. Protect yourself, know that the
method you chose is working, and carry on. :love:
