Warburg Restoration Project

Aeric

I've read that Lady Harris' original paintings donated to the Warburg Institute were undergoing a restoration as of 2007. I can't find images of the restored paintings, and apparently there are a few variations of the final cards.

Did Warburg acquire the funds to complete the restorations? Has there been an exhibit of the paintings? How large are they?

The images are about 10.5" by 16.5" The restoration was paid for by funds from the OTO, apparently using member donations. Primarily the restoration was concerned with the mountings, glues, frames, etc., and not so much with the actual paintings. after restoration, the deck was re-photographed using the best digital techniques and color matching. That deck is only available in German, via Konigsfurt/Urania.

There are/were a few of the original paintings on display at the 2013 Venice Biennale. The Warburg does not post images of them online, and access is restricted to researchers.
