Why have more than one deck?

Ruthann

Oh! I didn't answer the question, I'm sorry.

I have two decks I read from, two decks were gifts and the rest I got for the imagery and symbolism. I have a very special "my" deck that no one is permitted to touch except me for my own personal readings, meditations and journaling.

Hey! I'm not alone! :D

And there's nothing wrong with pretty--that doesn't make us shallow! If we like the artwork we're more likely to pay close attention to it.

I like having several decks for several reasons, most of which have been covered by others here:
Different decks are suited to different moods, seasons, what have you
Different decks give slightly (or greatly) different slants on a situation
Different decks are good to have when reading for others, because different people resonate to different images or art styles
And they're pretty! Many of us like different art styles, just because.

I'm only a collector incidentally; I buy what I like when I can. I only have 20-someodd decks, bought over a 20- or 25-year period.
