Was Aleister Crowley really as bad as depicted?

Pet Jeffery

Because that would be unthinkable for a woman her age -- while totally accepted for a man, of course.

As a woman nearing 50, I scoff at you. Scoff!

You have taken me as meaning something entirely different from what I intended to convey, as have a number of others. I have done my best to delete all of my previous posts on this thread. I will not look at this thread again, nor at any other thread relating to the mercifully long dead Mr Crowley.

Showmanship, like a wrestle, I think was what he did. .

I got a laugh outa that! Thanks :) .... not the wickedest man in the world but the Brute Bernard' (famous 'professional' wrestler) of magick. I can see it now, pentagram wrestling ring, Clowley on his knees giving the claw gouge to Waite's stomach.

, I'm not sure I would invite him to dinner; he would probably dully drone on and on about his exploits, make a mess on his plate and take the last breadstick.

OR ... come impeccibly dressed, have good manners, sit on the carpet and play with the children and the coloured pencils he bought for them, and compliment the cooking. Thats what one woman said of him who hosted a dinner. and no, I cant give the refrence, it was from a BBC radio doco on A.C. (its discussed in another thread somewhere here).

There are no records of "workings" between Harris and Crowley, and I seriously doubt that any took place. But it's safe to assume that Crowley did instruct her in the theoretical aspects of sex magick. Some of the Thoth cards are so explicit it's hard to imagine how Harris could have been ignorant of it. It probably also tells you a little about Harris herself. Can you imagine a sexually repressed prude producing such provocative and daring works of art?

Well, since P.J. seems to have dematerialized I'll attache my comment to yours Aeon. You obviously understand the issue but I felt to post this for those more ignorant on the subject.

I once did a reading for a very elderly lady, how embarresing ... everything seemsed to be saying, 'this girl is having a wild and passionate time ... sex was dripping from the reading. At the time i thought it was just my deviate interpretation so i modified it for her (what a bad reader!). At the end she took my hand and cleared it up, her situation was exactly as I had intuited. Then she says "The older I get the better sex gets."

Dont think that for a monent if a woman seems 'too old', or whatever for sexual tantra or magick that will be the case. It might turn out she is sooo much more capable than a wild, reckless, ego-driven . . . . (rant rant )

How dare you sir! harrumph!

Oh no. Please don't do that, Pet J. I find your thoughts quite interesting.

I would ask, what did you mean, then? But since you aren't returning to the thread, you can't defend your statements. Too bad.
