Magician as emotional connection

chainsmoker

Hi all,

How would you interpret Magician as emotional connection between two people? Does it mean "magical" connection, bond, when you can talk for long hours with someone you just met and just feel very comfortable with them? Or something different? I just don't get this card.

Hi chainsmoker! I think it means anything is possible, that is these two persons have all the tools at their disposal to create an emotional connection between them, it's then up to them how to build it and to choose the best approach to make it real, that's the magic of The Magician ;)

Thanks...

For me, when I look at the card, I see instant, natural attraction. So it's up to them what to do with it - they can make a real bond if they want...

Makes sense and fits the situation:)

This is a tricky card in this reading, for me the Magician isn't a naturally emotional card but it is a card where the person has the control of all the elements, they can manifest what they want.

I think that it's not an instant connection, there isn't a soul mate type connection where it gets deep really fast and they just get on, it's not magical where they don't know why they get on so well. This needs work! That is the Magician for you, they can make the emotional bond happen but they have to work out if they want to do it and the method? This can get a little sinister though because the negative side of this is they could manipulative or even fake the connection for their gain.

If they are spending long hours on the phone forming the connection, that is almost like a manipulation to make it happen, not necessarily a negative thing (just make sure the other person isn't being played) but it's not a natural connection to happen, it's manipulating the person to get closer, the Magician is ultimately an illusionist. However this bond is a choice or a plan of action if that makes sense. They might want to get closer to the person so they do lots to make it happen!

For "What is the emotional connection..." the Magician isn't a great card to see, IMO: he's cool and Mercurial/cerebral, not emotional -- and potentially tricky/deceptive, as well. It's not a partnership/connection card because only one person is shown, and he (or she) seems to have all of the influence/"tools" -- perhaps "dazzling" the other into doing/providing certain things; I'd be wondering if one person has something "up the sleeve" and is manipulating the other somehow...

I'd say that The Magician as an emotional connection would mean that the relationship status is "It's complicated".

I tend to agree with IndigoWaves.

I get mixed signals from this card. In the RWS deck it looks like a man who is channeling his power and in union with the heavens - what is above is also below..

But the traditional interpretation that I've gathered is like what Indigo said. This guy has tricks up his sleeve.

Being card #1, following the Fool, it's the start of things. I like how Indigo used the word mercurial. I would think a connection involving this card could mean a fast paced start with lots of fun, bubbly communication.

If I were in that situation I would be careful to pace things moderately and not be too available all the time, nor let myself be too dazzled. Not sure I could pull it off though!

Of course a lot depends on the other cards in the spread. Keep us informed!

Ok, I just read somewhere that this card can mean soulmate type connection, like, you meet them and "magic" happens! But I get the point now. It's all about work. When I read your post I remembered some very popular song lyrics "find out what you want, be that girl for a month..." :D That's how I see it now.

Yes, I was thinking about this as well. I don't know if that's the case here. I mean, plain manipulation. Both people are being honest and respect each other, care about each other, no tricks. I'd agree more with what others said before - that this needs work and such "work" usually involves some kind of planning, slight manipulation of events etc., to get closer to the other person. But that's something to think about. Maybe I don't see things as they are and if you're right, I've been blind, selfish idiot.
