Mythic Oracle

HearthCricket

Wonderful! I will look forward to all your decks! Dragons and crystals sound like a perfect match. It is funny how various decks pop up in our life that we didn't really look for or thought the theme probably wouldn't particularly connect, and then we take the plunge and are so pleasantly surprised when they become such strong reading decks! This is how the Dragonfae and Mythical have affected me, so the idea of more tarot and oracles from you is an exciting prospect!

Oh well heck!!! Now I know where some of my money is going in the next couple years!!!

I still haven't been able to buy the Mythic Oracle yet, but after HearthCricket's experiences it is VERY high on my "to buy" list. And with your tarot hybrid coming soon.........which I'm soooo excited about.......then a dragon energy and crystal oracle!!!! (swoon) Two of my very, very favorite things!!! I'll be in heaven.

dreamsofgaia, have you seen some of the things we've been saying about the Dragonfae deck? I know there's a thread around about it. There are quite a few of us, including HearthCricket, myself, Jewel, Guiding Cauldron, etc......who absolutely love it!!!

Please, please keep it up hon!!! We love your work!!! And like HearthCricket says, there's a tarot creation part of the forum. You can post scans of your cards as you like. Keep in mind though in the creation forum you will get suggestions and opinions - that's part of what it's there for - unless you state a the very beginning of the thread that this is just to let us see some of the cards only. You're not open to getting opinions or suggestions of how to change them. And I also would suggest not showing all your cards.......:p Don't lay all your cards on the table. LOL (I don't know if you have that saying in Australia or not) :)

This is an extremely friendly forum!!! We've very happy to have you come by just to chat...........you don't even have to show us your artwork. We'll still love talking to you!!!

I hope Mythic will be embraced by many. It's a nice wee deck, and while I've probably made a few booboos along the way, it was an amazing learning experience. Just the growth and improvement in my ability to paint has made it so very worthwhile.

Well as I mentioned, the tarot is the priority for now, especially since I'm running a little behind schedule at this point. But there's snippets of artwork for both the tarot and the oracle deck on my website. I've got the majority of the tarot artworks scattered across the different galleries at the moment, but now I've got about 20 of the paintings sorted out I am going to either set up their own gallery, which I have already done for the 'Soul of Dragons' oracle or finally get a separate website set up.

*smiles* I did see a thread several months ago when it first came out. I think I made my first post on that same thread too. I am truly overjoyed by the positive response to Dragonfae. Lucy is such an amazing person, and I am friends with most of the other artists who were included.

I think one of the things that is probably making me hesitate posting a thread up in the tarot creation forum is the fact that I am not really open to suggestions and opinions. *grins* Without wanting to sound too fey, I am being "guided" with regards to this deck, and I have learned to trust my intuition and instincts in order to create and write each card and have meaning and artwork in harmony with each other. At the beginning, I tried to stay true to more traditonal tarots and take on board other tarot reader's advice and thoughts, but it did not go too well because everytime I deviated I felt like I was working under wet cement, or I'd begin to have doubts.

This is why I'm a little behind, because I was allowing other's opinions and advice to distract me. Now, I have come to a place where I am simply listening to my dreams and instincts, and heeding 'instruction' when it is given. As a result, everything is now flowing along and feels right. People are delighted with the artwork, and connecting with some cards more than others. I won't change anything just because they don't connect, because the simple fact is that they are probably not meant to but that does not lessen the power of the card itself. *grins* I hope that makes sense?

I often come in and now that I have actually taken the scary plunge and posted more than a few words, I'll probably come back to natter when I can. :D

I think that makes a lot of sense and you can always put a link to DeviantArt (easier to access than those of us not on Facebook) on your profile, if it isn't there already. I would not want the comments of people to sway your artwork or make you second guess something that the spirit is moving you to create. Follow your own path! :)

I just went to your website and all I've got to say is............ OH MY!!!!! :bugeyed:

I love  the cards you've shown so far on the Soul of the Dragon!!! I started to say that I really like the Dancer the best, but then I thought....well I really liked the Watcher as well and the Guardian... hehehehe

Then I think you are very smart not to post anything in the creation section. I know some of the artists get more caught up in trying to please everyone instead of doing what they feel is right. And I want you to do it the way you're led. I'm sure you do too! :p I love what I've read (and seen) right now. I know I've only talked about your artwork so far, but I love the way you write about it too. What you've written about the Soul of the Dragon is wonderful IMO. :)

Truly, I think it is often very difficult for artists to not be influenced by others, especially now the internet makes it so much easier for us to get our work seen by others. I know so many who have given up painting the things they love to paint in order to paint artworks they believe to be popular. I did it for a time too, but then began to suffer because my art has always had such an intense spiritual connection; the more I tried to commercialise it, the more unhappy I became, so about two years ago, I began to slowly transition back toward art that reflected my beliefs or were inspired by stories and poems I have written.

Over the last six months or so, I personally have come to understand that each and every person who views my work will see something completely different. It is the same with the tarot and oracle decks; even with a guidebook we all eventually intuit our own meanings, and each of us is going to have a slightly different perception as to what an artwork represents and what each element within it symbolises. So some will agree with my interpretations and others will not, and of those who do not there will be a number who will click with the artwork and give it their own personal meaning. Or at least that is what I hope they will do :)

I love to write and have woven a wee tale around each of the cards, which is why I am taking on the task of writing for the tarot and further oracle decks that I do. It's a challenge to do both, but one I am enjoying.

I have added links to my website and deviantart gallery to my profile. I am also my own webmistress so I tend to be somewhat erratic at updating my main website, but my deviantart gallery gets updated within hours of the painting being finished. I also tend to use my journal there more than anywhere else too :)

*laughs* Now I'd better hush ... I really do love to write, but can be somewhat rambling at times ;)

I'm not an artist myself, but I can see how it would be difficult now that it is so easy to communicate with people all over the world - getting so much input from so many people. But like I try to be in every way, it's best to just be yourself.... I've heard from many artists that they "have" to paint/draw/etc, or it's just what makes them happy. So I would imagine that when you try to do it to make others happy or make money it would lose what makes you enjoy it. (shrug) And IMO makes the art not as compelling.

That's exactly what I love about tarot, oracles and just artwork in general. Everyone sees something different, which makes it personal to everyone. I love that!!!! But then what's really fun is when you see something in a card, painting, or drawing and find out later that what you see is exactly what the artist saw as well. :p I find myself doing this all the time with the Dragonfae deck. I don't read the book until I have journaled with the card I draw. And I've found myself getting goosebumps sometimes when it's exactly spot on.

I love when I can personalize a character or being in a card. I love to think of them as real people (or dragons LOL). So I think a small story is a wonderful idea. I know Lucy Cavendish wrote the book for the Dragonfae deck, but that's one of the things I liked about it. She wrote like the dragonfae are real......so they became that way for me. :) And in what you've already written on your website I see myself reacting the same way to how you write.

You and me both. LOL I can ramble with the best of them!!

I got up this morning thinking I'd probably order the Mythic today. After all the talk last night and looking at the scans again I just thought I'd go ahead and give in.

Then I get a call from Jewel :* telling me she ordered one for each of us. LOL My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so she ordered one for me......and one for herself!! :*

So I should be getting the Mythic Oracle in the mail in a couple of days!!! Yay!!! Isn't she a sweetheart?

Jewel

Dreamsofgaia, first off I have to say that I am a huge fan of yours since the moment I got my Dragonfae deck. "The Elder" is my master teacher, and has had me working with "Nimue" since January on learning about crystal healing. That you are coming out with an oracle related to dragons and crystal healing just floors me and I am so excited that it is going to be extremely difficult for me to patiently wait for that *LOL*. I do not even want to imagine what it was like to paint The Elder! ~chuckles~ To me she is akin to Yoda from Star Wars or Mr. Miaggi from The Karate Kid *LOL*. I adore her, and I am sure one of these days I will have to purchase a print of her. She keeps me focused and is a fantastic teacher (quite bossy *LOL*). I would not mind seeing her again in your new oracle *LOL*. I would actually LOVE to have a tank top with her on it *LOL*.

Well I thought we both deserved a present ~giggles~ I thought I would be sweet to us both *LOL*. I will look forward to playing with this deck on Thursday when I get to your house!

Dreamsofgaia, your artwork is stunning and moving. The Elder has touched me very deeply and put me on a lovely journey, for that I thank you. Please continue to do what you are doing and don't let any person influence you. It is my belief that The Elder would hit you on the hands with her staff if you did! (I have her sitting in front of me by the way). I also look forward to your tarot deck!!! Like Faunabay, I will welcome the hybrid, I will be watching for the development of that deck very closely.

Thank you for coming by and I hope you allow us the opportunity to get to know you better :D ... and again, thank you for painting The Elder :D

It is fun to hear each person's relationships with various cards. Tatsuya (my inner dragon) and Time Guardian have had a deep impression on both my spiritual and personal life and growth, from the Dragonfae, so much so that I went out and bought this statue, who is now named Tatsuya!

It is also fun to use both the Dragonfae and Mythic together, picking one card from each. Right now I have The Lady Alfreda and Hades~The Underworld, working together. Apparently a lot of shadow-work going on with me!
