I do have to say that the search feature here is abominable. It's not the fault of anyone---it's the software. I've been here a long time and even though I've figured out how to use it fairly well for certain kinds of questions, I don't blame newcomers who just give up and ask a question that's been asked a bijillion times before. Others say, "oh, it's easy, just do thus and so" but "thus and so" doesn't work like they say---at least not for me, so I don't use it very often unless I absolutely must or I'm desperately trying to help a newcomer.
There! That's said, and I meant it!
I think this is like the old saying, "if you want to have a friend, be a friend". If we want the forum not to plateau, then we have to put our minds to figuring out how to keep it from that. And I don't mean just trying to think of more stimulating topics to post or better questions to ask. That's putting the problem out for someone else to solve, it's not actually a remedy. We're bored so we want to ask stimulating questions to make
others say things that will be more interesting to
us. Do you see what I mean?
But rather than trying to figure out why we've hit that "mud bog", maybe we should have a look at ourselves and try to figure out why we're feeling it's a plateau. Maybe the answer lies within us as individuals, not outside of us. Maybe it's not a plateau at all, maybe it's just that we as individuals have gotten bored. I've always told my kids and grandkids that there's no such thing as "bored". Boredom is just a choice not to find yourself something to do. So maybe if we're feeling there's been a plateau here, we just need to figure out what
we as individuals need to do to make it more interesting and freshened up
for ourselves.
OK, so what would make this less of a plateau and more interesting and stimulating for
you that
you can do all by yourself? If you get interested and stimulated others will follow, after all. Let's don't put it outside ourselves and land the blame and the duty on others to remedy. If we're feeling a plateau, then it's our
own plateau we're feeling, not the failing of anything outside ourselves.
