I picked them up over the years collecting Houdini and Conjuring books and ephemera. Seems our two fields cross from time, especially in books. I think they came from an old magician's collection.
HarryHoudini has kindly shown me pictures of all the 47 cards.
Here I'll list them:
TRUMPS: I, II, III, IIII, V, VII, VIIII, X, XI, XIII, XIIII, XVIII, XX, XXI
& "LE FOL"
SWORDS: A, Q, P, 7, 5, 2
BATONS: A, K, 10, 9, 6, 4, 3, 2
CUPS: A, K, Kn, P, 10, 7, 5, 2
COINS: A, K, Q, P, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2
(A = Ace, K = King, Q = Queen, Kn = Knight, P = Page)
The Tarot cards that started this thread are now on Ebay. Hopefully the link below will work. If not, you can do a search under sellers and type in harryhoudini.
contains links to a Conver (from Kenji), to a deck (47 cards) from Guilleaume Mann (late 18th, just at an auction at ebay till Sunday with a first bid of 100 Dollar) and a few unseen Minchiate cards (17th or 18th, at an auction in Berlin, 6th of December).
### don't overlook the Minchiate cards , not that they especially beautiful, but they are generally rare.
Oh, I hope JMD gets it because he'll love it so much, and he'll let us all know about each stage of discovery as he studies it up close and personal. Good luck, diva!
