New Custom Tarot Deck Sales Tool

The boxes are pretty bad, though so are those with very many self-published decks- that's why so many come in bags; easier to get right ! (I just put them in dollar store bags !) - but I have to say that since the very earliest, slightly shaky days, I've had no particular issue with the TGC card stock...

The preference for bags is the primary reason we enabled a feature last year to allow Tarot designers to choose "no packaging" in our shop. That way you can just include a bag with your deck and call it good.

I'm sorry you don't like the quality of our card stock. We use industry standard playing card stock now, but we do realize that some people do have preferences for ultra premium types of card stock.
t.

I'm glad that you are also looking for ways to improving the card stock for the Tarot decks, i have bought a few and i have noticed that already there is some wear and tear on my cards? other then that i don't have any big issues with how you promote the decks on your site, but i do agree there needs to be more of an eye catching page when viewing each deck?

That doesn't work if you are doing the drop shipping, does it ?

Not sure what you mean by "drop shipping". If you mean can you sell your deck in our shop without packaging, the answer is yes. If you mean, can you buy your deck without packaging, the answer is also yes.

We're currently researching methods for creating linen textured decks and upgrading our standard card stock to black core casino grade card stock. It's difficult because the stocks that we want to use are made in France and the French provider wants us to buy an entire shipping container (50 tons) of the paper at once, which is a lot for a small company like ours. Not only for committing the money to such a huge volume of paper, but we then have to store it in a climate controlled facility until we're ready to use it.

It wasn't my intention to offend you but if you really want to know how to sell more decks or
how to make them more appealing then the card stock has to be considered when more
than one person is telling you that it's too thin and the boxes crush easily.

Ultra premium paper isn't required, just a card that will not bend or crease when shuffled and won't
show wear after 10 uses. No one expects French Linen paper but at least one that would hold up
to some use would make the decks more appealing.

Go grab one of your own decks. Shuffle it about 20 times and put it in and out of the box each
time. See what you think. You don't have to use it as a tarot deck. Play old maid, whatever.
See what you think about how it shuffles and how the cards hold up. Maybe some of us
received some decks that were unusually thin card stock.

No, she means the decks are shipped directly to the buyer so there would
be no way to add
a bag instead of the box unless the artist had the decks shipped to themselves first
and then sent them off to the buyer with a bag.

No, I mean that for a seller/creator to include a bag doesn't work within store.

Actually Karen - I do use some of my gamecrafter decks fairly regularly, and I even :)shhh:) riffle shuffle. They hold up OK. They haven't bent; they haven't creased.

You have not offended me. I actually do have decks that I've been using for 5+ years made by The Game Crafter and I don't have any of the problems that you're talking about. I agree that the boxes are thin, because they're made with the same cardstock as the cards, but I have zero problems with the cards. I have certainly heard from people that think the cards are too thin, too thick, too "insert personal preference here", but that is far less than 1% of our 60,000 person user base.

Thicker card stock will not make cards more durable. In fact, it will make them less durable, because the edge will be thicker when you bounce the cards against each other during shuffling. That's why we're seeking out the casino quality paper, because it is actually slightly thinner than our existing card stock, but has a different construction density and grain which makes them have more "snap". The cards will shuffle slightly better and will be more durable.
