reading cloths: materiality&protection?

I read sitting on the floor, laying the cards on a blue Navajo-blanket with a pattern called "the eye of God" on it.

I bought that blanket just because of it's look and intended to use it to cover my bed in a decorative manner. And back then I read on my carpet which had avery subtle color. When I was moving out I didn't take the carpet with me and needed a new cloth for my cards (as others said, I don't like to pick cards from hard surfaces as well).

It's not what you would call unobtrusive but it simply looks wonderful! Plus, it adds an air of mystery even to readings with playful decks! :)

I have Lo Scarabeo's Moon & Stars Black Velvet reading cloth and Victorian Romantic mini reading cloth but rarely use them because it is so precious :>
