Spirit of the Wheel Meditation deck

Rhiannon

The Spirit of the Wheel deck

Gorgeous artwork by Jody Bergsma. http://www.bergsma.com/

Picked it up yesterday and did quickie 2 card reading with it last night. It's just lovely and I really enjoyed the reading it gave me.

Anyone else have it yet?

Just bought this one myself (alright you enablers, it's your fault! :D). Rhiannon, do you know if this deck is based on Sun Bear's book? The titles on the cards sound like the medicine wheel he created. Here's a link to the cards (if you click on the "Enlarge photos, you can see several of the cards):

Spirit of the Wheel Meditation - Another new animal deck!

While I was browsing the net I just came upon this beautiful new animal deck published by US Games. :) Does anyone have it yet? I would love to hear your opinions on it.

The more I look at it the more I want it! So beautiful!

I just got it about a week ago. US Games had a sale of 10% off your whole order so I added it hoping it would be nice. I don't know if there's a companion book available, I just got the deck that comes with the LWB. The LWB is pretty informative so I don't know that you would need the companion book. The cards are approx 3-1/8" x 4-3/4" or 80mm x 120mm for those of you metric users out there. They have a nice slick feel, they shuffle nicely, they are a tad thin. Not too thin but thinner. They could get bent easily. I will probably get another set sometime just to put away in case this gets too ratty.

The illustrations are beautiful. There are lots of animals, almost every card has one. There are a lot of eagles, bears and wolves but they are all used appropriately on the cards and you don't feel like they are repetitive. I really like them.

Here's the list of animals by card

bear/hawk/antelope (on one card)
eagle
3 eagles
owl/horse
turtle
frog
thunderbird
butterfly
bison (buffalo)
eagle
wolf/cougar
brown bear
hawk
polar bear
black wolf
male deer (buck)
cougar
hawk
frogs
elk
raccoons - 3 babies too cute!!
owl/hummingbird/hawk/raven
bear/eagle/buck/wolf
goose
winter bison
white geese
eagle/wolves
brown bear
eagles
horses
eagle
eagle
horses
eagles
cougars - very sweet card - kind of a lovers card
black bird or crow, can't tell
black bear/fish
brown bear, wolf, eagle

I have been looking for a nice animal deck. It would be nice if they would expand this to a full tarot deck. I really like the artwork. Very nice!

Thank you for the reply! I'm a little bit disappointed that the same animals are featured so often. But I think I still want this deck because I really like the artwork and combined with animals I just can't resist. I will keep this deck in mind but so far it's not listed on amazon.de and my wishlist is far too long anyway. ;)

The animals are repeated but they aren't the same artwork. Even though it might seem like a lot, it's not bad. I like it, but it would be nice to have different animals.

I too have this deck and LOVE the artwork.
What I find disappointing is that it is in part set up after the Sun Bear Native astrology concept, that as we all know well, is purely invented and not based in Native American spirituality. (Somewhere in the Astrology forum I wrote about it ...)

Also I find regrettable that the card "Ducks fly" shows not Ducks but Canada Geese.

For meditation and daily draws I mudh like the cards.
