Discussion Thread for: The Making of a New AT Collab Deck

Alta

It seems to me that the final destiny of the deck does need to be decided now. You should decide and then stick with the decision because it is clear to me that who participates will be affected.

Will the deck ever go to print form? Y/N
Will anyone besides the participants be allowed to have a copy, either in electronic or print form (as decided in the question above)? Y/N

You cannot leave this to be decided later, it could trip up the entire project.

ETA: if those in charge wish me to remove the off topic posts, just PM me with the post numbers.

I think the poll indicates most of the answers - even though no 'official' declaration has been made - yet.

PS - I think the pasta and bread posts can go away ....

The poll does not even MENTION the possibility of sales - whether to anyone but the actual creators, whether to AT only, or whether actually to the world at large. Ann that is quite big in this thread. There have been several posts expressing reservations about that side of it, and only a couple of very non-committal soothing posts in response..

Until there is a binding decision about that, I am hanging fire. And I know I am not alone there.

Exactly, it's the scope of distribution that's at issue here.

Publicly available or not? That's the decision that needs to be made SOON.

I'll contribute my card either way (when it's done!) but I'm not really on board with the whole publicly available/fundraising idea. Not for selfish reasons, but because that's not what I signed up for. :p

In Post #1 of the poll thread -
F - do we want to print the deck?:
F1 yes
F2 no

Is the deck goes to (paper) print - QED - then it would have to be for sale in some way, shape, or form? No?

gregory

Post #1:

If the deck gets printed QED it must be for sale - some way, shape, or form?
As I already posted in the other thread: OR free- but I realise that's not possible. BUT - in the other collaborative decks I have been a part of, ONLY participants are eligible to buy copies; we get a quote and then effectively split the costs between us. That was what I thought was meant when printing was first brought up. For sale anywhere else - just to AT members or to the public is a whole different ball game.

No need to shout ....

The question is, will it be printed for

-- collaborators only
-- AT members
-- publicly available for anyone to buy (from Gamecrafter or other print-on-demand)
-- ???

This is what I would like to see an answer on - the scope of distribution.

Citing the poll at this point seems disingenuous, since we've been wrangling over the question for days now.

Sometimes it seems to be the only way to get anyone to hear. When ALTA shows up to point out it is high time for a decision to be made and stuck to, for you - not, incidentally one of the organisers, I think - to keep suggesting that it has been made is disingenuous, as well.

I decided not to take a card because you guys are all amazing artists and creative folk and my heart is not really into creativity at the moment. I would really love to buy a copy of the deck though and so I hope if it is printed physically and available to people outside of the deck creation. If it was publicly sold I would buy several copies for friends outside of AT, it might benefit the forum as well. I think it would be sad to make it and not have it actually made as an end result.

I guess the question is about the costs, organising and sorting out of it being printed. It can't end up with one person dealing with it (even if it is one persons name for the printing, its gotta be a team thing) and is the printed deck to make a little profit to give to AT to support the forum or not? Personally I would be willing to pay whatever it costs for a deck as it was a AT collab effort and I would like to own it. If it's not printed, I would like to print it myself and make my own cards.

In the poll a lot more people want to actually print it than not, but we do have to think about all the parts of it like gregory is warning about.
