Non RWS decks

AmethystEyes

I am looking for a deck that isn't based off of RWS. I have a hard time not jumping straight to the meaning that I learned. I want to be more intuitive when reading because I've found my readings to be more accurate that way. I don't want to see 4 of cups or text on them to distract me. Hmm now that I think about it maybe an oracle deck would be close to what I'm looking for? Any suggestions?

HudsonGray

Tarot of the Animal Lords. I absolutely could NOT read it as a RW type deck, but it opened up to me great when I treated it as an oracle deck and just went by the images on the cards.

My first thought is a Thoth deck, or the Haindle. I looked at your profile and not getting many clues as to what you're into - if you're into any witchy stuff, The Well Worn Path is quite nice. Sounds like you definitely want an oracle though.

if you are into science at all, consider the Universe Oracle. I have them and they are really beautiful.

If you're into faeries, perhaps one of Brian Froud's oracles.

It's hard to know what to suggest without something to go on other than "not RWS."

Tarot in the Land of the Mystereum.

I'd definitely recommend "Waking The Wild Spirit" beautiful deck - and I find it wonderful for intuitive reading, nowhere near the RWS system. There have been a few popping up on eBay UK in recent weeks

The Marseille decks are not RWS based. (Actually, it's the other way around.) The non-scenic pips give totally free reign to the intuition, and it is easy to dissociate the picture cards from the RWS straitjacket. I like the Grimaud (Marteau) version. The Marseille is the opposite of a pretty (but superficial) fluffy bunny deck, and it does not force any particular mode of interpretation.

Kissa Tarot. :)
