Where do you hide your decks

I have been out for most of those 20 years, now I'm back

Most of the pagans, tarot enthusiasts, etc. I know in person place a high value in living freely and 'coming out'; however, in some circumstances I don't think this ideal is worth the pain it causes. And, I'll sacrifice freedom for the chance to be close to the only blood relatives I have while they're still living :)

I understand that from a sexuality POV - I'm in the closet to my family (I'm bisexual) because I'm not willing to lose them to come out. But your household sounds scary.

Well, it is two against one (he's only one person) and I train in karate :D

I don't hide my decks but I have an idea for you. What about hiding your decks in your cooking books? in the 1st show of the Tarot Connection Podcast one lady mentioned she got into Tarot after she inherited grandmother's cooking books to later discover her grandmother to be a closeted tarotist, she found a RWS deck and daily readings hidden in the books.

a obvious hidden stash..

I've a table exclusively for my Tarot readings. That's where I leave all
things metaphysical at. I've 3 decks one is enclosed in a beautiful
drk.wood box. And wish I had bought one more at the time many years
ago.
Though the way I "hide" all of this is by throwing a purple pentagram
cloth over it! More protection than anything else. ;)

I remember an "ex" telling me about "de-porning" his place before his
parents came over to stay with him! :)
It's easy to forget things that are most comfortable and personal to you
until someone questions you about it!

But I am aware who I bring into my home and who will be fine
with what I have. Though my roommate doesn't know..shhh ;)

I don't have to hide my decks and I don't. But my neighbours, whom I like and wish to keep as friends, are Christians. Luckily my computer room is on the second floor so I keep everything there. While not hidden, it is not in anyone's face, either.

Mine live in wooden boxes on a book case in my living room. They are not exactly in plain sight, but not secreted either. I think the 2 shelves of tarot books from the sets just below them speaks pretty well for the contents of the boxes. They are in those boxes to protect them. Somewhere buried in the threads is the story of the tarot eating Beasette Hound.

Due to some seriously messed up stuff in my life, I'm currently staying with an online friend and her parents. They're all hyper-Christians who would probaly kick me out if they found out about my evil tarot ways...

The first step was that I only brought one deck with me. That helped. *laughs* I don't really "hide" it...but I do lie about what it is and don't let any of them see it up close. They think it's just a card game I've got. (It's the Housewives Tarot, so it does have a bit of a playful look to it) I keep it in the bag lark sent me when I'm not using it and they don't mess with it.

However, I also have a book of spreads that has TAROT on the cover in big bold letters...my brilliant hiding place for that?

...

The laundry basket! I always have clothes in there, it stays by my bed, and thankfully they're not the "helpful" types who would come in and do my laundry for me. (When I came here, I didn't even know how to work a washing machine [sad, I know] and that was the first thing they taught me. "We're doing this for you ONCE. So pay attention." *laughs*)

I actually burst out laughing. Some of these hiding places are very funny and creative. Though it is a shame that some of us have to hide our passion for tarot.

It is! I'm not really used to HAVING to hide my decks...I used to do it for fun (I read too much as a child, and it makes me do all sorts of weird things) and that gave me a bit of an advantage where I was put in a situation where I would be homeless if I left something in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Before, I was lucky to even find my decks, because I was known to just leave them wherever. I once put the Housewives Tarot in the freezer (which might be an interesting hiding place...hmm).

that really made me laugh..... the freezer? If I ever have to hide a deck, that should be the place to hide it.

Fortunately I don't have to be secretive about what I do. My mum likes to make boxes and stuff like that so she made me a medium-size wooden box with a lovely impression of Mother Mary on the lid. She didn't know that I was going to keep my deck in it but she knows now (its right there on my desk) and laughs about it. After all, I'm the "family witch".

When I go to my grandma's place though, I keep it in my bag and take it out in the bathroom or a room that can be locked without anyone getting suspicious about it.
